I'll never change all my colours for you

Hello again! Just like in last week's blog post , I'm using some photos I took a while ago that I never got around to posting.  I wore this outfit out to lunch with my uni friends. I love catching up with them and hopefully I'll get to a chance to see them now that we all have work holidays. I like the colours in these photos - the green velvet dress and red lipstick seems to perfectly match the bright yellow sunflowers.  I'm glad I captured some photos of this dress as I've now sold it on. I bought it from Ishka (a fab hippy shop) years and years ago, back when I was in high school. I remember being thrilled that it was only $10. I got so many wears out of it.  I finally decided to sell it because I found the pockets around the stomach to be unflattering. For that reason, I usually wore the dress with a top over it, like in this post about a visit to a strawberry farm.  I hope its new owner enjoys it but I am sort of regretful tha

Hello there. I've spent 4 days this week laying down sick in bed so I'm glad I've got these photos that were taken earlier in the year. They're sunny and I can spot a glimpse of my sunflowers in the background, which makes me enormously happy. Thank goodness I was well enough to leave the house on Wednesday. For my birthday, my sister bought me tickets to a preview screening of 'MYSTIFY Michael Hutchence' which also had a Q&A with director Richard Lowenstein, a friend of Michael's and director of 1986 Australian cult classic Dogs in Space (!!) It was such a thoughtful present. Source: Richard and Michael  Source Source Richard used interviews from the past and present to illustrate Michael's life. He made an intentional decision to avoid having a "talking heads" documentary, where the video footage is of people talking about Michael. Instead he opted to include various people speaking over footage of Mic

A couple of weeks ago, my workmates and I had a professional development meeting about resilience and how to encourage it on our students. I got A LOT out of it. Not only did I enjoy learning more about how it is so important to model gratitude, empathy, kindness and mindfulness to students, I also came away from it feeling very positive. In just a short time, I've noticed an improvement in my mindset, just by being more conscious about the importance of gratitude. Last week, I wrote a list of things I am grateful for on my Instagram and I think I'll try to do that once a week. I noted little things I am grateful for such as: 1. My family 2. Seeing the sun set 3. The company and conversations with work mates 4. The chicken soup I was having for dinner that night 5. The fab snake print boots I was wearing in the photo. (You know me, I couldn't resist!) I wanted to add some humour to the notion of gratitude because I know it can across as very h

I can't complain but sometimes I still do

While you're reading this, I'll probably still be working on my students' reports. It's that time of year again! These photos were taken back in April when I last had some work holidays. My mum and I went to our favourite Italian cafe Brunetti.  We had a posing competition. My mum wins, hands down! We stopped off at my dad's work on the way there. I thought my dad would laugh at the sight of us posing in his workplace, but instead he suggested we stand in front of the oil bottles. That made me laugh! I wore my snake print skirt, which I now refer to as my Eagles skirt as I wore it for the first time a few months ago when seeing the Eagles perform live . At Brunetti, I had pasta and vongole and my mum had squid ink pasta with crab. I made a mental note to have the crab pasta next time. We left with a lemon gelati in hand. When in doubt, mango or lemon gelati never disappoints.  Outfit details: Suede vest, boots and

Thank you for your birthday wishes on my last post - I really appreciate it! My birthday was on Monday so after work I came home to a lovely dinner that my mum made - stuffed peppers, my favourite! My cousin surprised me by coming over for dinner. I was happy to see him as I don't get to see him as much as I'd like. We chatted away, laughing at out crazy childhood stories. Afterwards I was thinking about how important people of our childhood can be. There are a lot of people that I treasure from my childhood - cousins, aunties, uncles, friends and their parents, family friends - they always seem to hold a piece of my heart.  I was so excited about this chocolate mousse cake. It had a layer of caramel and tastes like a Mars Bar! I had first tried it when one of the teachers at school brought it in for another teacher's birthday. I was thrilled to hear it was a Brunetti cake - I love going to Brunetti . I was planning a birthday day out to Daylesford last S
