Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

Hello! Hope you're well! Yesterday I had a 21st birthday dinner to attend and this is what I wore: Rust coloured turtleneck and snake print boots (retail). Red velvet skirt (mum's). Pear shaped amber pendant (eBay bargain). I hadn't worn these boots in ages so I thought it was time to give them a whirl. This velvet skirt is actually a dress, a hand-me down from mum. It's not particularly flattering on my tummy so I was going to sell it but then I had the bright idea to wear a top over it and voila! Problem solved! It's that time of year again where I spend some time each weekend working on my student's reports. I like to wake up on a Saturday and/or Sunday, have breakfast and then spend a few hours chipping away at them. Then I feel I can relax and enjoy the rest of the day.  Hello! Over a year ago, I found a DREAM vintage item but I haven't had a chance to wear until recently. I found an Ossie Clark dress at a secondhand market for $10!!! Can you believe that?! I've wanted one for years but figured for the thousands of dollars they can sell for, and them mostly being sold in the UK, I'd never find a decently priced one in Australia! Of course, I remember the exact moment I found it. I saw the label, pulled out the dress, stared at it for a long time... my body had a physical reaction with my heart beating and time felt as if it stood still. You'd think it was love at first sight or something - very dramatic, I know! The lady selling it wasn't a regular at the market and may not have even known that Ossie Clark pieces are so collectible. Orange you glad to see me? I couldn't resist that pun, as I've made the most delicious batch of glaceed oranges from the oranges on our tree. I cut them into thin slices and boiled them in a sugar and water syrup for one hour...  ...and then placed them onto an orange cake I made. Delicious! I treasure the sight, taste and fragrance of our oranges. I even like taking photos in front of the tree pictured behind me, as the pop of orange colour always delights me.  We've now picked the last of the oranges, so you'll just have to delight in my pink outfit instead. Last Tuesday, I had a lovely day out to the country. It started with an obligatory visit to the vintage market, where I found quite a few vintage treasures - some vintage plates, an orange Mexican bag and beaded sandals made in Italy.  It was a day of finds!  I've neglected to take photos of them but they'll appear in a blog post at some point. I was glad that the market wasn't too busy so it was easy to social distance. After a quick stop at the fish and chip shop for a souvlaki (yum!),  I noticed a botanical garden which I'd never visited before. It was so cold but that didn't stop me from strolling through the gorgeous forest.  Tiptoeing down the hill was hilarious! Thank God for nature! In times of isolation, nature has been one of our few freedoms. In Australia, we are allowed to leave the house if we are an essential worker, if we are food shopping or exercising, all whilst social distancing.  The valley has always been a place of tranquility for me.  With the double denim and band tshirt (Sunnyboys of course), I was going for a George Harrison//Elvis/ Bob Dylan look.
