Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

My favourite outfits of 2023! Dressing up is so fun to me. And I find dresses, coats, boots, sandals, vintage bags, a nice necklace and sunglasses are my go-to items to wear. Good morning from sunny Melbourne! After a couple of weeks of cold weather, we will be enjoying some 26 °C warmth over the next two days. Today is my first day of term holidays and I thought it was the perfect time to catch up on writing a blog post! A few week's ago, my sister noticed a lotus farm being advertised online, so off we went to the Blue Lotus Farm, for a family day out. This is the first sight that greeted us. Lotuses everywhere!   We wandered around the beautiful garden, admiring all the different types of lotus species.     Above is the Australian lotus variety and below is one of the world's largest lotus species.   I wore a white dress with big, ruffled sleeves. The last time I wore this dress was a few years ago when the New South Wales bushfires wreaked havoc on our holiday, but worse than that, people's lives and homes. Earlier in March, my family and I had a nice day out to a Bacchus Marsh strawberry farm. We've visited before and do so most summers. I had just started my first week of work and was happy to get out on a sunny Saturday.  I wore my white 'Seed' dress with big ruffle sleeves, bought at a secondhand market for $10 (a good score as I've heard Seed clothing can be expensive!) I last wore this dress over a year ago when we were surrounded by the bush-fire smoke in NSW. It's good to now associate this dress with a lovely day out picking strawberries. I also wore my op-shopped jelly shoes ($2) vintage belt ($5) and beaded bag ($5), mum's hat and some sunnies ($1). Gosh I'm cheap - my outfit only cost $23! Mum wore her gingham skirt that she made herself. She paired it with a mustard yellow shirt that has a sharp dagger collar. Mum has a thing for collars and I just love her outfit.
