Looking At The World Through Rose Colored Glasses

Image
Hello! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good. On Saturday, I got a chance to catch up with my friends from uni. We went out for lunch and chatted the day away.  I love a good ol' catch up.  We're all teachers so it was good to talk about our different experiences. I wore this outfit and believe it or not, the bangles are the only things that are secondhand or vintage. The boots, tights and navy cardigan (worn under the dress) were bought years ago. The sunglasses and denim zip-up dress were bought this year and I'm certain that I'll wear and love these pieces for years to come. After discovering Oasis a little while ago, the music caught my attention first but I also like the image of the sunglasses some of the band members wore. So that's the inspiration behind these pink round glasses. Source Back in the sixties, Marianne Faithfull and John Lennon also knew a thing or two about a good pair of sunglasses. Source

Hello! I wore this purple velvet dress to my aunty Zora's 50th birthday a few weeks ago. We celebrated at a restaurant where you could choose what you wanted to eat at a buffet full of food. I loved the prawns and seafood. Later, everyone went back to my aunty's house and it was nice to catch up with some of my cousins. I bought this velvet dress at a local op-shop a year or two ago. I'm joining Vix in the # stylingnotshopping and  #shoppingfromthewardrobe campaign to show that you you don't have to buy an endless amount of new clothes to have style. Buying second hand and shopping from your own wardrobe is actually really fun! Feel free to join in with this campaign, if you like. I've admired Whiting and Davis snake necklaces for years ever since seeing these 1960s pictures of them. Tesselaar Tulip Festival

A couple of weeks ago, when I was still on work holidays, I enjoyed a fun day trip out to the annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival with my mum and sister. We'd visited many years ago with some friends and when we saw a poster advertising that the festival was on again, we decided to go.  First we had some poffertjes, which is a perfect carnival or festival snack, in my mind. We walked around the grounds and spotted a cute shop selling miniature fairies and mushrooms and a heaps of whimsical items. It would have been a dream come true for young children. There are 120 varieties of tulips and they are all so beautiful! Tesselaar Tulip Festival is held in Silvan every Spring and is a big tourist attraction in Victoria. The tulip farm began in 1954 when a Dutch couple migrated to Australia the day after their wedding. They loved tulips so much that they decided to fill a 55 acre farm with them! We loved this fairground organ that pla

Hello again! After getting back from Sydney , I had a pretty relaxing week and went on a few day trips while I still had some time off work. Every once in a while, my mum and I love visiting Geelong, a port city right next to the beach. I have really happy childhood memories with my sister, cousins and best friend having the time of our lives in Geelong, so it's always nice to go back. We stopped off at the Geelong Vintage Market, had a look around and shared a delicious avocado bruschetta.  Ted Whitten: Footscray's football captain. I took this photo to show my dad, he's a big Bulldogs supporter! I loved this squirrel salt and pepper figurine! We had a good look around, but didn't buy anything. Window shopping can be fun too!  I'd been looking for some Summer clothes to wear at work but couldn't find anything I really liked. With clothes that I wear at work, I like to stay true to my vintage style but still look some

Old World, New World - Day 3 in Sydney

Image
After a fun day seeing Sydney through a bus tour , my family and I continued sight seeing through a walking tour on Saturday. Like the previous day's tour, we met up with everyone at Hyde Park and started the two-hour walking tour at 10.30 am.  We saw the Westfield Tower, which has a restaurant  at the very top of the tower. We past Il Porcellino, a giant pig statue designed by an Italian lady. It is believed that if you rub the nose of the boar, you will have good luck. So my mum, sister and I had a good laugh and rubbed it's nose! My dad refused, he's way too cool for things like that! I love these historical sandstone buildings. The city of Sydney is such a mixture of historical buildings and gigantic high rise apartments - they're everywhere! Old world, new world. We walked through Suez Canal which use to be a dangerous gang area but now it's just a tiny lane that can be walked through to get to The Rocks. It is a place where English convicts w
