It's a sunny day

Last week, my mum, dad and I had a sunny day out to a sunflower farm in Dunnstown. We visited a sunflower farm two years ago and absolutely loved it, so mum and I were keen to return.     It was the first week of the fields being open to the public, so some of  sunflowers weren't fully grown yet, but they were still a beautiful sight.     We wondered around, taking photos, enjoying a sausage sizzle for lunch, cutting sunflowers and I marveled at the many ladybugs, happy when they landed on me because they're supposedly good luck.     The sight of bright sunflowers and cute red ladybugs sparked an idea for my next embroidery project, which I'll probably start in the winter. We are approaching Autumn here in Melbourne, with only 2 days of summer. I wonder what we'll get up to then... I have some plans. I always think it's a good thing to have something to look forward to especially in these strange times. It's horrifying to see what's happening...

Thank God for nature! In times of isolation, nature has been one of our few freedoms. In Australia, we are allowed to leave the house if we are an essential worker, if we are food shopping or exercising, all whilst social distancing.  The valley has always been a place of tranquility for me.  With the double denim and band tshirt (Sunnyboys of course), I was going for a George Harrison//Elvis/ Bob Dylan look. These photos were taken before the exercise rule came about, so we actually had packed some food and ate on a park bench. But no more picnics for us! Now we've got to think more creatively!  My sister is very creative, actually.  She had some clothes dye, so we spent some time in the garden tie dying socks.  She also organised for us to take  part in onli...

Always something there to remind me

I recently had the most wonderful day out to my favourite country town Daylesford, with my nonna and mum.  First thing's first, we bought some honey at the honey farm and then I had to stop to pick some wild blackberries. They are so delicious! I look forward to picking them every year. The only thing is that you've get to be careful of the prickles and look out for snakes! This is Australia, after all! We browsed the Mills Market which is filled with over 100 vintage and retro stalls. The song 'Always Something There to Remind Me' was playing and it certainly rang true as numerous items brought back happy memories for my Nonna. We saw some retro children's outfits and she recalled how she sewed clothes for all of her three children from when they were babies until when they moved out of home or got married. A wicker chair reminded her of an old, funny Italian song. When we passed a portable record player, she was reminded of family celebratio...
