Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

I love taking photos and looking back on them. If I didn't take photos, I truly wouldn't remember half the things I get up to. I'm spending my term 3 holidays at home due to lockdown, but I'm enjoying looking back on memories from past holidays. After each term, when I've got time off, mum and I love to head straight out to our favourite country town, Daylesford.   These photos were taken earlier this year, when we took my nonna out for the day.       She loves chocolate so of course we had to stop off at the little chocolate factory, sip on chilli hot chocolate and eat these fancy handmade delights.  Hope you all had a lovely Easter long weekend. I know I did!  After the last day of term on Thursday, my family and I left for Rosebud on Friday. Leaving at 9.30am, it took us about 2 hours to arrive at the little beach town. We bought some lunch at a nearby fish and chips shop. I got a delicious lamb kebab - my favourite! By the afternoon, the sun was still out so my dad, sister and I couldn't resist visiting the beach across the road from our motel. The water was really shallow but crystal clear. You could probably walk for 5 minutes and still the water would only be up to your knees! There were schools of fish swimming around us, as well as a few jellyfish without tentacles.  Happy New Year!  2020. It has already been deemed one hell of a year. For my family and I, it started with lots of terror as we rushed to escape the New South Wales bush fires . That was truly traumatic and I can't even begin to imagine how people who lost their homes or loved ones feel. Then by February, we were all too aware of corona virus and it's restrictions on our lives. Many people suffered in various ways, whether it be financially, socially, emotionally. Having a family member catch coronavirus was really scary and stressful but thank goodness he is alive and well. So many have died due to this pandemic and the numbers are truly shocking. After two lockdowns in Melbourne, I am glad that restrictions have now drastically eased. To all those in lockdown overseas, please have hope that if you stay home and keep doing the right thing, restrictions will eventually be eased. This time last year I was happily frolicking around a park after a visit to an op-shop.   The tulips were dazzling and I was shimmering in my vintage fringed skirt.   The ducks even came out to say hello!   I remember an elderly lady struck up a conversation with mum and I and we talked about our love of fashion. The lady told us how she loved collecting pink clothing and we admired her pink outfit. She was so sweet. I love how fashion is such a great conversation starter.     On that particular day, I scored a vintage scarf made in Italy and a vintage patchwork skirt.    While many in the world exhale a collective sigh of relief over the news that Biden has won the American presidency, Melbourne is also relieved in the latest corona-virus figures. We've had 8 days of zero cases and people are starting to enjoy eating out and shopping again.
