And I Think Of All The Things

I can't believe I last posted on Monday, it feels like weeks! I wrote about finding this  Australian-made striped jacket  and promptly wore it. So what have I been up to this week? I've been ... - Crocheting - it's so relaxing and I like feeling creative when I produce something. - Watching an Amy Winehouse concert at the Shepherd's Bush Empire. It was her 7 year anniversary since her passing this week. Source - Listening to John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Double Fantasy for the first time. - Reading Marianne Faithfull's book Memories, Dreams and Reflections . I enjoyed her autobiography better, I seem to be stuck in the middle of this book and I'm finding it hard to get through it. Source I wrote about wanting to watch some Bette Davis movies after watching Feud: Bette and Joan, and I've since watched Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (such a nerve-racking thriller) and The Bride Came C.O.D...

Through the silk sheets of time

In my last blog post , I wrote about how much I loved watching Feud: Bette and Joan and it led me to watching  Mildred Pierce (1945), starring Joan Crawford. After the police interrogate some people, Mildred reveals her troubled past to the officer through flashbacks. Source Being a fan of vintage fashion, I was naturally keen to check out the outfits. They were very sophisticated and some were quite glamorous. I especially appreciated the brooches, which I rarely wear, but this film has certainly made me eager to start wearing some. Source After watching  Mildred Pierce, I wanted to watch another 1940s film, so a few days later, I watched The Cover Girl ...

I've really been enjoying my work holidays. On Thursday night (not last Thursday but the one before, I'm that far behind on blog writing!), my sister and I went ice-skating at the local Youth Winter Festival. I love rollerskating with a friend of mine from high-school, but I've never been ice-skating before. It took me a while to get used to it and get my balance. There were so many people there, there wasn't much space for a wobbly skater like me! I was just getting the hang of it when the event finished and everyone got off the skating rink. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!   The next day, I had a pretty easy-going day, crocheting a scarf and visiting an op-shop where I scored these vintage, leather shoes that were made in Brazil for only $4! I'm so used to wearing boots all the time that I'm not sure how I'll wear these with the outfits I wear. Any suggestions? Whilst I was crocheting, I finished re-watching the Feud: Bette ...
