Oh cherry, oh cherry, oh baby

At times, social media can be wonderful! My mum and I saw a Cherry Hill Orchards reel and admired the beautiful blossoms so we decided to visit and make a day out of it.  After a long drive to Wandin, we were greeted with the pretty sight of rows and rows of cherry trees filled with crisp, white blossoms. In the store, there were many cute, cherry themed products being sold including cherry jam, cherry chutney, cherry liquor, cherry sauces, cherry hats and stationary.  I thought these bee candles were cute. We enjoyed a cherry ripe ice-cream. It was so delicious. The cherry on top was a nice touch. I wore my Kmart pink/purple gingham dress with a rose quartz necklace, my vintage, tooled leather bag and my trusty brown, leather boots. Walking through the rows of cherry blossoms, we spotted an old, depilated cottage that my mum would've loved to renovate, some bee hives and a lovely big lake. We ended the day with a lovely picnic. I particularly loved the brie, crackers, p...

Not too long ago, my mum and I visited the Tulip Farm in Silvan, when I was on work holidays. It was still cold, so I rugged up in my new-to-me big coat. I'm not certain if it suits me or not. Perhaps I'll wear it a few more times and if I don't absolutely love it, I'll sell it. What do you think?   One thing was certain, the tulips were absolutely beautiful. We've visited the tulip farm before and I delighted in returning. I couldn't wait to eat the Dutch poffertjes. Sprinkled in icing sugar and butter, they were delicious.     Around every corner there was something magical to see.       Mum and I decided to plant some tulips in our garden and before long we had red, yellow and purple tulips brightening up our day. The bulbs multiplied so once they finished flowering, I pulled them out and dried them to replant for next year. Have you grown tulips before?         There was even a daffodil corner! The daffodil bulbs ...

In the silk sheet of time, I will find peace of mind

Victoria is currently in Lockdown 6.0 and I am starting to feel that every time I publish a blog post, I'm giving lockdown updates! What can you do? Just got to work from home now and teach my students online again. The children now know what to expect when I start handing out their folders and paper bags filled with what they'll need to learn from home. Rather than boring you with talk about the restrictions, I'd rather share a lovely day out that I had during my last work holidays in June.   I pulled out my snake print jacket and skirt for the occasion, an outfit I save for fun days out. Mum and I went on a boat cruise from Williamstown to Southbank, which we love doing every once in a while. The sky was decidedly grey on this winter's day but it was still a beautiful sight looking out to the water.       There's a little restaurant by the river that we like to visit, where we always order the delicious homemade pasta. For some reason, we forgot to take phot...

Let's hope it's a good one, without any fear

Happy New Year!  2020. It has already been deemed one hell of a year. For my family and I, it started with lots of terror as we rushed to escape the New South Wales bush fires . That was truly traumatic and I can't even begin to imagine how people who lost their homes or loved ones feel. Then by February, we were all too aware of corona virus and it's restrictions on our lives. Many people suffered in various ways, whether it be financially, socially, emotionally. Having a family member catch coronavirus was really scary and stressful but thank goodness he is alive and well. So many have died due to this pandemic and the numbers are truly shocking. After two lockdowns in Melbourne, I am glad that restrictions have now drastically eased. To all those in lockdown overseas, please have hope that if you stay home and keep doing the right thing, restrictions will eventually be eased. For the most part, I have tried to remain optimistic and hopeful. If certain plans were interrupte...

Ain't it good to be alive

Hello! Another w eek in lock-down here in Melbourne - what a time to be alive!  It is  disheartening  to  see the daily corona-virus updates but I am trying to stay positive and count my blessings. I am fortunate to have a full time job where I can work from home. It is a lot of work and stress but every job has its challenges, that's just life. If you spent your whole life looking for the perfect, stress-free job, I reckon you'd never find one. My lovely students are doing their very best to learn from home and families are doing a wonderful job helping them. In a video meeting this week, when we were talking about the things we were grateful for on 'Thankful Thursday', I reminded them to thank their parents because they are their first and most important teachers, not just during this remote learning period but throughout their lives. Walks to the valley always renew me. Last week, my whole family ...
