A day in the city! In the past, I didn't really enjoy going to the city, but recently I have learnt to love it. Nice food in cafes, little tea rooms, clothing stores, these are the places I enjoy. Recently my mum and I went to the city to have lunch at Florentino. I enjoyed my duck ragu tagliatelle although my mum was disappointed with her linguine with (not so fresh) seafood. Isn't it so disappointing when you go to a fancy restaurant and spend some big bucks and your meal isn't nice? Next we ventured into Sportsgirl where mum tried on some clothes and I took an outfit selfie in the 360 degrees mirror. I wore my new-to-me, vintage leopard coat which I mentioned in my last post. Mum and I were accidentally twinning as she also chose to wear her leopard coat that day! Not one to be embarrassed by this sort of thing, we laughed about it every time we caught sight of ourselves in a shop window and received quite a few compliments. In the afternoon, we popped into our favourit...

Don't change for you, don't change a thing for me

Some things never change. For example, my love of leopard print! These photos were in the bunch of outfit files that I never got around to sharing last year. A year has gone by and I still love every part of this outfit. Vintage bag, leopard turtleneck and boots: Secondhand market finds. Velvet culottes: retail. Afghan style coat: Op-shopped.   One thing that has changed is my hair length. I've been trying to grow it for a few years and it's quite a bit longer now. I can tell in these photos that my hair is a bit oily, which I'm okay with as the oilier my hair is, the better my curls are. Strange I know, but true!   My love for nature shots will never change, of course. There have been changes in Victoria too as we've had zero new corona-virus cases for the 16th consecutive day. A limited number of people are ow allowed to visit one another and we can visit regional Victoria - yay! Recently I have visited my dedo and some family friends have visited. It's nice to s...

Da da love your hair, Da da lend me a ten

Hello! I hope you are all well. As usual I've had a very busy week teaching remotely from home. I was so tired last night and feeling rather strange but a marathon 11 hour sleep fixed that! I shocked myself waking up at 10.30am today.  Now I'm all refreshed and ready to share some fun pictures with you! Lizzie of vintage.glamour.mama instagram came up with this fabulous idea of inviting fellow vintage lovers to send in their recreation pictures and she compiles them into a video. The aim is to find a vintage photo that you love and try to recreate it. I was thrilled that she included me in a video here . Most people are very kind in the online vintage community but Lizzie goes above and beyond to include everyone, so if you want to join in, send her an email.  I actually wore this snakeskin outfit last year to the  Revolution: Rebels and Records exhibition but after watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood , I realised that Sharon Tate wore ...

Ain't it good to be alive

Hello! Another w eek in lock-down here in Melbourne - what a time to be alive!  It is  disheartening  to  see the daily corona-virus updates but I am trying to stay positive and count my blessings. I am fortunate to have a full time job where I can work from home. It is a lot of work and stress but every job has its challenges, that's just life. If you spent your whole life looking for the perfect, stress-free job, I reckon you'd never find one. My lovely students are doing their very best to learn from home and families are doing a wonderful job helping them. In a video meeting this week, when we were talking about the things we were grateful for on 'Thankful Thursday', I reminded them to thank their parents because they are their first and most important teachers, not just during this remote learning period but throughout their lives. Walks to the valley always renew me. Last week, my whole family ...

Lately, you look around and wonder what you're doing

Bright turquoise tights? What was I thinking?! I bought these pair of tights recently on eBay and since they arrived, I've been stumped on how to style them. Yesterday I had a brainwave! I wanted to wear my new cord miniskirt with my matching emerald turtleneck but I decided it needed a pop of colour - blue legs! It was a day of firsts, I also wore these new-to-me green snakeprint boots and the blue scarf pulled the look all together. I thought it was only right to dress up to go to an opshop! It's the first time I've been in MONTHS! Well, that's not entirely true. I went to a small opshop last week before eating banh-mi at a cafe and it was a bad experience. I felt so uncomfortable being in such a small public space and there were people blocking both isles that led to the exit. I hardly looked at anything because I couldn't wait to get out of there. I wasn't completely comfortable eating at a cafe either and tried to avoid touching shared surf...
