If you try sometimes, you might find you get what you need

Hello! How are you all out there? I have started working online and the first couple of days were  a huge learning curve, I was so stressed about it all. I had days where I spent 9 straight hours on my laptop , trying to get everything right. Thank goodness for my mum and sister who made me breakfast and lunch.  I didn't have time to photograph their lovely meals  but here's some breakfasts I made on the weekend.  I'm so glad that  my wonderful grade 1s are starting to get the hang of learning online and I am so thankful for the parents and siblings who are helping my students, as they are still at an age where they are learning to read and use computers. Outfit details: Vintage vest- Daylesford Mills Market. Turtleneck (made in Italy!) - Secondhand market, $5. Bakelite bangles: Opshopped for $2!  (orange) and an eBay find for $15. Coral bracelet: Secondhand market in my favourite place, Sydney. Butterfly brooch: S...

Then away went Rudolph, reelin' like a merry-go-round

I absolutely love Christmas! I'm looking forward to catching up with friends and family. I've been listening to my Elvis Christmas album and as I mentioned in my last post , I've been in the Christmas spirit all month! My special golden tree , on my bedside table. Can you spot the Rolling Stones badge, shell, cowboy boot and sausage dog? Here are some photos that were taken on October 31st when my mum, sister and I put up our Christmas tree. I know it's early (!!) but it's been a tradition that we've been doing for 20+ years. This year I wanted to share photos of some of my favourite ornaments...  Geisha and lantern. The cutest toadstools. A glass slipper. We used to take turns putting this one up each year because it's our favourite decoration. And a chocolate covered strawberry good enough to eat! We've collected these decorations over many, many years, buying 1-2 each year. I wait until after Christmas...

Hello!  2018 is almost finished - can you believe it? I thought my family and I were having a quiet Christmas at home, but we got a few invites at the last minute! On Christmas Eve, we went to my uncle's house for lunch, the lamb spit and my mum's stuffed peppers were delicious! The jokes in the Christmas crackers had us laughing this year. What do elves learn at school? The elf-abet! It's the silly season, alright! We stopped off at my nonna's on the way home. I don't get to see her as often as I'd like, as I've been working full time this year, and I miss her.  Now that I've got some time off, I'm happy to see her much more. On Christmas day, my family and I had lunch with my best friend Renee and her family. There's nothing like a good ol' catch up. And they're a clever lot. They hired a hall and everyone brought a couple of plates of food, which saved one person the stress of cooking a huge feast...

Some might say that we should never ponder

What a busy weekend it's been!  On Saturday night, my family and I went to a christening, which had some wild performances from Romanian belly dancers - it was like something straight out of the movies! It was a late night, but my mum and I managed to pull ourselves out of bed five hours later to go to the Sunday market. It was last of the year and I found a few things: These brand new sunglasses were $1 and the CD has Queen's greatest hits over 3 discs! A small haul, but that's how it goes when you're vintage or second hand shopping - you never know what you'll find. Later in the day, my family and I spent the day in a country town called Daylesford, with my Dedo. We've been many times before ( here , here and here ) over the years but this was the first time with my grandpa. The first thing we did was stop off at the local honey stall. Once you taste this honey, it's hard to go back to supermarket honey. We had lunch at a ba...
