There we were, now here we are

Mum and I had a nice day out back when I was still on summer holidays. We drove out to Daylesford to have a day out in the country. At 10.00am we arrived at the vintage Mills Market and browsed the hundreds of small stalls for 3 hours. I was fascinated with a huge clock that had a statue hanging off the clock hand. It was at least 6 metres tall, reaching the top of the warehouse roof! I thought I wouldn't find anything to take home with me, which is totally okay. I enjoy looking just as much as purchasing. Although in the last isle, I spotted a bangle for $10, listed as resin. I thought it might be bakelite, but the sniff and rub test didn't give off the usual chemical odor which determines if it's bakelite or not. Despite this, it certainly looked like my other bakelite bangles, so I decided to risk it and buy it anyway. Mum trying on some vintage hats. It was so hot that day, 32 °C, so we stopped midway through browsing and shared a vegetable panini and ice coffee....

I need some time in the sunshine

Hello! We've had some glorious winter sunshine recently. I've been enjoying my first few days of my work holidays and am glad to already be feeling very calm and relaxed. I attribute my recent peace of mind to spending some time in the sun, having a picnic in the garden, going for walks and catching a sunset, which I was inspired to do after reading The Outsiders .  I really ought to do that more often.  Vegetable pasta for lunch. With lots of cheese. I do LOVE cheese. I also filled these cute cans with flowers from the garden. They're too cute to throw in the recycle bin, so I thought I'd reuse them. This was my outfit to an op-shop on Saturday.  My mum's been having some health scares lately and on the way to a medical appointment we noticed an op-shop  nearby  that  was empty so we had a look around. I found some vintage sunglasses, a green jug and a photo album. I'm so glad shops have hand  sanitizer...

You gotta say what you say, don't let anybody get in your way

Last night I went to see Liam Gallagher perform! I bought tickets for my mum and I to go, so I rushed home from, we quickly ate dinner and practised our dance moves in the back yard, as you do.   Then off we went! I am such a nana and hate going out on a "school night" and of course I was yawning at 9.30pm!  We watched Sydney band Planet open the show, with Gerry Cinnamon playing after them. He bounced around the stage and made the crowd go wild. I had no clue who he was, but everyone seemed to know his songs. My mum and I must have stood out in a sea of people wearing black, or parkas (a nod to Liam's iconic look) and there were even a few guys with Oasis style haircuts and sunglasses (!!!). Source Finally at 9.30pm, Liam got on stage and I was in my element. Everyone was up and out of their seats for the entire show and I had a blast singing and dancing along to the songs. The crowd was so eager and a little wild, with peop...

I have spoke with the tongue of angels, I have held the hand of a devil

Yesterday was a fun day. There was a school mini fair at my work. My work friend and I made and sold so much jelly at our stall and the children had an absolute blast. When the jelly sold out, I wondered around the fair to look at all the other stalls that the teachers were running. I was delighted to buy some lilac fairy floss - it perfectly matched my nails and eye shadow. Where's a camera when you need one? I laughed to myself. I joked that  I was the mini fair purple queen, which my students found amusing. And after work, I went to see U2's Joshua Tree concert with my family. My sister organised it and we were all happy to go.  Source We arrived a little late and I started to panic as I could hear music blaring from outside the stadium. It was Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds performing as the opening act. Noel said that the first half of his set was for him, because  he declared "I'm amazing" and the second ha...

Step outside, summertime's in bloom

After a relaxing day at the beach in Eden , my family and I spent the next day of our holiday in a nearby town called Merimbula. We browsed the strip of shops and had a good walk around. It's a bit of a tradition for us to have lunch at the Merimbula RSL, so we made our way up the hill. We arrived too late (the kitchen closed at 2pm) so we tried eating somewhere else for a change. Source My sister spotted Dulcie's Kitchen, a house made in 1925 that has now been turned into a hamburger place/pub. It originally had 10 people living in the home and the mother Dulcie loved cooking, so the place is named after her. Half of the walls have wooden paneling and it's decorated in old photos of the people and the town as well as mounted deers near the fireplace. Source We all enjoyed the hamburgers and were glad to have tried a new place to eat. My mum and I looked a bit like twins in our maxi dresses. This pink dress was fun to wea...
