Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

Day 5 in Tasmania was very rainy. In Launceston, we checked out of the hotel, browsed some stores including a very unique looking umbrella store and an opshop. On this holiday, I didn't buy anything at all except food and one face cream as I had no space in my luggage with a 7kg limit. We made the long drive back to Hobart, walked by the bay and my sister and I spotted some more starfish in the water. I wore my mum's leopard dress and she wore a cute blue maxi with a long, lacy cardigan. I loved wearing this leopard dress so much that I looked on eBay and found the exact same one and purchased it for myself. Perhaps my mum and I will have a leopard twinning moment soon! We took my dad out for a birthday dinner at Ottimo Ristorante Italiano . I enjoyed a prawn, anchovy and chilli spaghetti. We walked by the bay again after dinner and had some gelati.     Recently, I've been loving the colour pink. I think it may be because I've been seeing so many reels of cute, pink kitchens on Instagram or perhaps it's because I've been adoring my pink, strawberry jug I shared on my blog recently . Regardless, I've never really paid much attention to the colour pink until recently. I was determined to find a pink dress and luckily I didn't have to look far because I found this pink and red dress at the next opshop I visited, Savers. A bit pricey for opshops ($15.80), but I was happy to purchase this dress because it's beautiful and Sportsgirl sell their dresses for $80+ in their stores.     I had to take my new-to-me dress out for a twirl on a day out to Daylesford with my mum. She wanted to visit the lavender farm again whilst the purple delights were still in bloom.           The scent of lavendar was wonderful.    Happy Monday! Here in Melbourne, we have the day off for the Queen's birthday long weekend. I've been glued to my laptop this weekend, working on my students' reports, so it was nice to have a break and get out of the house yesterday. My family and I went for a drive to Diggers Rest.      We are people from the suburbs so naturally we take photos by bales of hay when we come across them!  We spotted some cute sheep and adorable lambs, who were a bit camera shy, probably wondering who are these strange people and why are they taking photos of us ?    Right where I was standing, there was actually a small monument dedicated to Harry Houdini, who flew the first flying contraption in Australia in these fields in 1910.   For lunch, we stopped off at the Keilor Pub Hotel. My sister and I were so hungry after all the driving around and both enjoyed our burgers. She had a vegan burger with sweet potato fries and I had a spicy chicken ...

  Ah, a day at the beach! Hope you're not sick of my beach blog posts yet! These photos were taken a few weeks ago when it was hot and muggy all week. In the past, I've always enjoyed summer but this year's humidity has overwhelmed me. What to do but have a day out at the beach! Mum and I went to Williamstown beach, one of our favourites. First we stopped off at the opshop, and I quickly found a mustard, carved Bakelite bangle for $2!! They sell for $100+ in vintage stores so I was stoked to add this to my collection.      Outfit details: Umbrella to shield us from the sun - mum found this at a market. Mexican dress ($3), woven bag ($15), sunglasses ($2) - market finds. Spanish made sandals ($8) - brand new from an opshop! You don't have to spend heaps to dress up or feel cute!     Then we made our way to the gorgeous pier and admired the sparking water and white boats.
