Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

After a fun day seeing Sydney through a bus tour , my family and I continued sight seeing through a walking tour on Saturday. Like the previous day's tour, we met up with everyone at Hyde Park and started the two-hour walking tour at 10.30 am.  We saw the Westfield Tower, which has a restaurant  at the very top of the tower. We past Il Porcellino, a giant pig statue designed by an Italian lady. It is believed that if you rub the nose of the boar, you will have good luck. So my mum, sister and I had a good laugh and rubbed it's nose! My dad refused, he's way too cool for things like that! I love these historical sandstone buildings. The city of Sydney is such a mixture of historical buildings and gigantic high rise apartments - they're everywhere! Old world, new world. After seeing the Sydney Opera House, Double Bay, Rose Bay and Don Ritchie Grove , my family and I continued on the bus trip. We saw MacQuarie Lighthouse, the first lighthouse in  Australia which began operating in 1818. The white lighthouse looked so beautiful against the blue sky. We drove past Bondi Beach, and whilst everyone was taking photos through the bus windows, I was snapping some pictures of these cute pastel coloured buildings, as I couldn't get a good look at the beach.  Luckily, the bus driver stopped and we had 25 minutes to wander around.  Bondi Beach The bus tour ended near St. Mary's Cathedral. I'd definitely go on a bus tour again, it was so much fun seeing everything and learning about some of the history of Sydney. My mum and I love looking at old churches. What a week it's been!  I wanted to publish this post earlier this week, but the time just flies by.  Last Friday, a family member was rushed to the emergency section of a hospital. It was a bit eerie being in a hospital again, the last time I was in one I sadly witnessed my grandma passing away. Luckily I haven't needed to visit hospitals too many times in my life and each time I'm reminded of how wonderful and helpful the nurses are.  The Glass Castle Things were all right by Saturday. I got to watch The Glass Castle , which my sister insisted would be worth watching and it certainly was! I found this dark green velvet skirt at a market a little while ago. I love velvet, if you hadn't noticed by my first post ! This skirt was a fab $5 find and I've worn it quite a bit already. It's amazing how many things (that I really like and wear a lot) I've found at a market. In fact, I bought my belt, skirt, bag and boots all at the very same market. I didn't buy them all at once, of course, but slowly over time. These red boots were made in Croatia! I love finding vintage items made in European countries or from Australia. If you find something made in someplace other than China, it's probably vintage as so many things are made in China nowadays.
