Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

A perfect weekend for me includes a visit to the market with my mum. Lately, I've been "window shopping" and not coming home with any treasures. I think that is perfectly okay because I have so many lovely clothes and things at home that something needs to be really special now before I buy it. I did spot this giant Pinocchio for $120 though! It's so cute. I've spotted a few wooden Pinocchios over the past year:  here  and  here . My ideal weekend also include spending time with my family and boyfriend. My boyfriend and I made a parrot to add to his Lego collection. He is so easy to buy presents for. All I need to decide is which Lego to buy! We went for a picnic at the Tea Gardens and enjoyed some brie, guacamole, crackers, marinated peppers, salami, olives, carrots, blueberries, grapes and chocolate. A day in the life of a school teacher on holidays...  1. Sleep in I was sick during part of my holidays and I don't think I slept in more than twice but on this particular day I did. Yay! 2. Plant seeds I've planted leek, basil and tomato seeds as well as the ones pictured below. I've been watering them, which is something I've neglected to do in the past, but not this time! I can't wait for the sunflowers and vegetables to grow! 3. Pick some broad beans from the garden. I like picking them when they're small as they're sweeter. 4. Make a simple breakfast and admire my mum's roses. Greek yoghurt, salted peanuts, strawberries and maple syrup - delicious! 5. Picnic On this particular day, I intended to stay home all day, but my mum wanted to visit Footscray Park to see the purple wisteria that blossoms there each year.  At times, social media can be wonderful! My mum and I saw a Cherry Hill Orchards reel and admired the beautiful blossoms so we decided to visit and make a day out of it.  After a long drive to Wandin, we were greeted with the pretty sight of rows and rows of cherry trees filled with crisp, white blossoms. In the store, there were many cute, cherry themed products being sold including cherry jam, cherry chutney, cherry liquor, cherry sauces, cherry hats and stationary.  I thought these bee candles were cute. We enjoyed a cherry ripe ice-cream. It was so delicious. The cherry on top was a nice touch. I wore my Kmart pink/purple gingham dress with a rose quartz necklace, my vintage, tooled leather bag and my trusty brown, leather boots. Walking through the rows of cherry blossoms, we spotted an old, depilated cottage that my mum would've loved to renovate, some bee hives and a lovely big lake. We ended the day with a lovely picnic.  Hello, I'm still alive and kicking! How are you? I've been so busy with reports and work and spending time with my boyfriend that I haven't had a chance to blog in a month! But I'm on summer holidays now and I'm back! Last month, my family and I spent a lovely day out at a rose garden. The weather was perfect - mild and sunny. We've visited this garden with family friends before and my mum wanted to return for a picnic. We had schnitzels and coleslaw in rolls with some cherry chocolates as a little dessert.        We wandered the gardens and admired all of the different types of roses and naturally took a gazillion photos. 'Tis the season to have picnics! And thank goodness for that as Covid-19 restrictions ever so slightly eased last Sunday. Outdoor gatherings of 5 people from 2 different households are now permitted. Taking advantage of the sunny weather and this change in restrictions, my sister, mum and I had a nice day out earlier this week. We ventured to a local park to go for a walk, with face-masks and sunglasses for extra protection. We packed a picnic lunch so that we could have a bit of a rest in between walking. We took some quick outfit photos and promptly put our face masks back on. Don't you just love my mum's gingham dress? It's perfect for picnics and she made it herself! After a bit of a walk we sat in a field and had tuna and potato salad for lunch. Delicious! It was also lovely to be surrounded by a beautiful field dotted with daisies.
