Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

 Our second and last day in Sydney began at 9.00am, after a nice sleep in. We returned to The Ground cafe and this time I enjoyed a mushroom and spinach croissant with a fried egg.  We also passed St Andrew's Cathedral, which sounded familiar to me and then I remembered it was where Australian musician Michael Hutchence's funeral took place in 1997,  it's mentioned in all the INXS books I have read. We also passed some other nice looking, historical buildings. Next we travelled to Bondi Beach, catching two buses to get there. We spent some time swimming in a pool overlooking the beach, then sweated in a sauna, before have a delicious rump steak for lunch. Bondi beach was so busy, it seemed like the whole town was out sunbathing! In the afternoon, we went for a walk around Hyde park, where I spotted the Westfield Tower.  Thanks for coming along on our Sydney adventure. Have you been to Sydney? Recently, my mum, sister and I had a girls trip to Sydney. We hopped on a Melbourne to Sydney overnight train, struggled to sleep sittting upright, but then celebrated our arrival with a nice breakfast at a Parisianne style cafe called The Grounds . My mum and I had steak and eggs on toast, whilst my sister enjoyed a croissant and eggs and we shared some coffee and matcha, topped with cute love hearts. The food and atmosphere wad truly wonderful. Then we walked around the CBD, passing The Rocks market, as well as a John Fluevog shoe shop, with lots of interesting looking, Canadian-designed shoes. It made me think of Shiela , a blogger friend who loves these shoes. After lots and lots of walking, powered with energy from some Turkish pistachio donuts, we finally arrived at the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. After a fun day seeing Sydney through a bus tour , my family and I continued sight seeing through a walking tour on Saturday. Like the previous day's tour, we met up with everyone at Hyde Park and started the two-hour walking tour at 10.30 am.  We saw the Westfield Tower, which has a restaurant  at the very top of the tower. We past Il Porcellino, a giant pig statue designed by an Italian lady. It is believed that if you rub the nose of the boar, you will have good luck. So my mum, sister and I had a good laugh and rubbed it's nose! My dad refused, he's way too cool for things like that! I love these historical sandstone buildings. The city of Sydney is such a mixture of historical buildings and gigantic high rise apartments - they're everywhere! Old world, new world.
