Here's a pound we hang around 'til Monday

Hello! Remember this vintage plaid skirt I bought a few weeks ago?  Well, I've been living in it this week! I wore it with this purple top to work. Despite  proclaiming that I have no problem re-wearing entire outfits  if I love them, I wore this skirt later in the week with  a maroon turtleneck and black boots.   December 1st marks the start of Summer in Australia, but it's been really cold this week. That hasn't bothered me in the slightest because it means that I can continue to wear boots. The other day, my sister was complaining that I have too many boots, but I really do live in them for nine out of twelve months a year, so I can justify it. On the weekend, I went to see the film Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist about fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. I didn't really know anything about her prior to watching the film, but decided to go see is as my sister gave me a couple of free tickets that she'd won from her uni.   Fashion

The weekend has escaped me again! After last weekend's Mexican themed party and day trip to St Kilda Beach , I spent Saturday finishing off my students' reports and getting stuck into a book called Exile on Main St by Robert Greenfield. It's about the making of the Rolling Stones' album of the same name. I'm a big Rolling Stones fan and have read many of their books. It contains some interesting anecdotes and is written in a narrative style, so I take some parts with a grain of salt. The author does make an effort to mention other people's version of events and sometimes discredits them. This morning, my mum and I headed off to the market. My finds: A navy velvet skirt, Almost Famous DVD (I love this movie!) Snakeskin boots (to add to the collection ) Linda McCartney vegetarian cookbook (I've got 4 of her books now) And all for $16! Later in the afternoon, I helped out with a big school fair that raised money for the school I w

After Saturday night's Mexican party fun , my mum and I woke up bright and early to go to the market. She was thrilled because she found some brand new cane cup holders that she's been wanting for years.  It was a slow start for me as I wasn't finding anything interesting but then suddenly all these fab treasures appeared before me!   Snake-print shirt Brand new tights Orange sandals (that were never worn before) Vintage checkered wool skirt 4 pairs of glasses (!) After buying 2 pairs, I thought I'd better stop! But then I saw the red pair and green pair, and I couldn't resist these colours that I rarely find. At the market, I kept overhearing conversations about how 74 year old restauranteur Sisto Malaspina was tragically stabbed to death in a terror attack last week in Melbourne's Bourke Street. So many people had loving stories about him and how he was such a welcoming and kind person. I hope his family know how beloved he is in the

On Saturday night, my mum and I went to a family friend's Mexican themed party! Luckily, I already had this red dress in my wardrobe, so I didn't have to quickly go out and buy something I'd probably never wear again. This vintage dress was a $5 market find. In fact, except for the hair flower I borrowed from my mum, everything I'm wearing was a market find. The boots and belt are vintage too. Everyone at the party got into the dressing-up spirit, one lady even dressed up as an avocado! We were also asked to bring a plate of food and I made some vegetarian mini pizzas. My mum and I loved all the Mexican food that people made, so much so that I decided to make some for dinner on Sunday. Corn chips, homemade salsa and guacamole- yum! It was nice to meet some new people at the party. We even played some party games! My favourite was 'musical hats' where we had to grab a sombrero every time the Mexican music stopped. We were howling

Everything I had to know, I heard it on my radio

Yesterday, my mum, sister and I went to the cinemas to watch Bohemian Rhapsody . I rarely go to the movie but I've been looking forward to watching this movie for months. I'm a big queen fan, I collect their records and went to their concerts the last two times they came to Australia, so I was keen. Source  I can't wait to watch it again, that's how much I  absolutely LOVED the movie . There were only a few moments where I stopped and wondered Is this part really historically accurate? and Did they really feel that way? Overall, I appreciated it for what it is - a great movie about an amazing band! Source There were moments where I totally forgot they were actors and felt like I was watching the real thing.  Perhaps it was because the actors who played Freddie Mercury, Brian May and John Deacon looked so much like the real band members.  When there were segments of concerts, I felt like I was there and had to stop myself from breaking into applaus

I'm really lucky to have a four day weekend this week! I've got Monday off to write school reports and Tuesday off for Melbourne Cup Day.  I spent Saturday starting the reports and spending some time at the cemetery to celebrate the day of the dead which is something   I'd never experienced before my Baba passed away nearly two years ago. Now I'm familiar with the different times during the year when Macedonians gather at the grave site of loved ones to celebrate their lives with food. I think about my Baba all the time and am always happy when she pops up in my dreams.  I wore a casual navy outfit - turtleneck and flare jeans, with my beloved snake-print boots I bought a few years ago.   I didn't take any outfit photos on the day so the above is just a collage of screenshots from a  Instagram  story I posted the other day. A day for the dead might sound really morbid, but it's actually quite nice there on a sunny day, catching up with relativ
