Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

On our sixth and final day in Tasmania, my family and I woke up early to drive up Mount Wellington and enjoy the view before the clouds descended. It was so cold up there, that I took one look and then eagerly returned to the warm car. Before our flight back to Melbourne, my sister wanted to squeeze in one more thing on our itinerary. We visited the popular MONA museum - museum of old and new art. It was a bit of a kooky place, but I did manage to take some photos of art that I liked including the Egyptian artefacts, Orthodox religious artwork, one even from Macedonia, where my dad and grandparents were born! It was surrounded by clouds and mirrors, a vision of heaven. Outside of MONA, my sister enjoyed bouncing on the giant trampoline. Day 5 in Tasmania was very rainy. In Launceston, we checked out of the hotel, browsed some stores including a very unique looking umbrella store and an opshop. On this holiday, I didn't buy anything at all except food and one face cream as I had no space in my luggage with a 7kg limit. We made the long drive back to Hobart, walked by the bay and my sister and I spotted some more starfish in the water. I wore my mum's leopard dress and she wore a cute blue maxi with a long, lacy cardigan. I loved wearing this leopard dress so much that I looked on eBay and found the exact same one and purchased it for myself. Perhaps my mum and I will have a leopard twinning moment soon! We took my dad out for a birthday dinner at Ottimo Ristorante Italiano . I enjoyed a prawn, anchovy and chilli spaghetti. We walked by the bay again after dinner and had some gelati. Day 2 in Tasmania began with a nice sleep in and then my family and I went to Hastings Cave, a 1.5 hour drive from our hotel in Hobart. I wasn't sure what to expect and was genuinely amazed by the beauty of the stalactites coming down from the cave and the stalagmites growing up from the cave floor. We walked up and down many steps, 50 metres below the ground, looking at the  stalactites  in wonder. We had to be careful walking on the wet, slippery ground and ducked the low parts of the cave. We were told not to touch any of the  stalactites  or  stalagmites  as the oils on our skin kill them and stop them from growing. We spent the afternoon swimming in the hot springs pool. My sister loves organising holidays, which is great because if it were up to me, I'd never go anywhere! She is great at organising flights, cars, accomodation, activities. I'm happy just to go along with it all. Recently, my family and I went to Tasmania. The plane flight there was so nerve racking to me. I hadn't been on a plane in about 10 years and I was very nervous throughout the flight.  I bought myself a creamy, chocolate Francese cake from Brunetti at the airport to distract myself! Upon take off, my sister tried to distract me with conversation but I immediately burst into quiet tears and then nervous laughter. I don't know how people travel for work all the time, I couldn't do it! When we arrived in Tasmania, we jumped into the hire car and went to Salamanca Market and admired a range of items such as lavender and honey products, jewellery, books, secondhand items, food products, clothing and flowers.
