Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

Our last few days in Eden involved beach walks, saying goodbye to our favourite horse Dennis, admiring the local church and watching the waves at the lookout. Wearing blue by the beach feels like blending into the horizon, where the sky melts into the sea. I love this velvet  Ishka  dress and cotton  Tree of Life dress .   On the next day of our holiday, my family and I drove to Oaklands for lunch. In the gift store, I was delighted to find some beeswax which I'm planning to use to make a beeswax and avocado oil face cream, like the one I bought in Merimbula a few days previously. I enjoyed the blue cheese pannacotta with rocket, pear and walnut salad, which I also had last year. We walked around the gardens, gelati and chocolate shop. On the drive home, we were so happy to find our old friend Denis the horse. He was so happy chomping on his grass, carrots and broccoli and he let us pat him. In the afternoon, I went for a beach walk whilst my dad and sister went swimming. I ate little oysters off the rocks, using my shucker and half a lemon. For dinner, I made a BBQ by the beach- vegetables and meat, with a side of, you guessed it, oysters. The only time I get zinc is on holidays. Must remedy this situation!  Day 4 of our beach holiday began with a beach walk where I found a pretty angel ornament. Sometimes there are wonderful signs all around us. My family and I drove into Eden and walked by the water. I loved this Christmas tree made of branches in an information centre and am inspired to make one of my own. We had some salty potato cakes and walked on the pier.  This beach has massive waves and is definitely a surf beach. At the local cemetery, I marvelled at the headstones of people who lived in the 1800s! Aren't they so much more beautiful than modern ones? It was quite chilly so I wore my wool jumper over my leopard summer dress. I found the wool jumper for $5 at a market and am so glad I bought it. Looking for sharks! Another holiday morning began with yoghurt and fruit by the beach.  My family and I ventured into nearby coastal towns Pambula and Merimbula, browsing the shops. I found a natural beeswax skin ointment that has inspired me to make my own. For lunch, we had Chinese food at the trusty RSL. It was quite cold so I wore boots and tights in summer, can you believe it? Nevertheless we're at the beach - yay! Jumping for joy! Day 1 of our beach holiday began early at 5.20am. We headed off for the long drive to Eden and stopped off at McDonald's for breakfast, we only ever go there once a year. We bought some cherries along the way and did some grocery shopping when we arrived eight hours later. In the afternoon, I put on my maroon bathers and walked along the shoreline of the beach, admiring the blue water. With a shucker tool, I shucked 14 little oysters! I continued my walk and found a red rock shaped as a heart, I love when that happens.  Stopping by the painted fish wall, I posed for my annual smooch-y photo. It's so funny to see the pictures over the years. The next day began with some cherries, blueberries and walnuts with yoghurt and more beach walks.  A delicious roast ham, potato salad, honey carrots and a green salad followed for lunch.
