When you're sitting there, in your silk upholstered chair
A little while ago, my family and I were invited to a very fancy 1st birthday at Crown Conservatory in the city. As it was a weekday, my sister and dad couldn't attend because they were at work.
My mum and I were very happy to dress up and go. I hadn't been to Crown before but had heard the food was delicious so we were excited to go.
It's time to pull out this vintage dress! I thought. I bought it last year at a market for $10 and the seller told me that she'd bought it in her home country New Zealand. She even remembered the exact year she acquired it - 1977. I think she bought it for her formal or some other occasion. Though my memory fails me, I was thrilled to hear the back story.
I paired it with this small vintage bag, which I call my 'candy' bag as the beads remind me of sweets. With my amethyst rings and silver strappy shoes, I was ready to have a nice time.
I don't often wear eye-shadow but whenever there's an occasion, I'm eager to put it on. I've been obsessed with purple eye-shadow since discovering Cher's fabulous 1970s look which I posted about here.
When we arrived at Crown, I marveled at the interiors - even the bathroom was fancy! The entry was a grand, black marble staircase with a nearby fountain. It was quite dark and the only source of light came from the icycle-shaped chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. I was in awe.
The bright Conservatory was a stark contrast to the darkness we'd just walked through. We sat down and chatted with some relatives, gazed at the view of the river and enjoyed the food. There was everything imaginable at the buffet- seafood, pastas, roast meat, salads, noodles, dumplings, cheeses, roast vegetables! And it all looked SO good. I looked around first, considering my options!
I chose to fill my plate with seafood - oysters, prawns, smoked salmon, caviar and the stuffed baby peppers were delicious. I'm practically drooling remembering it all.
Everyone was refilling their plate 2 or 3 times and I wanted to try more food but I was so full. My mum and I really enjoyed the atmosphere there, so perhaps we'll return one day for an occasion.
See you later.

Ooh, what a swanky restaurant! I also would have gone straight for the seafood! It's the best part of any buffet.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your beautiful vintage dress, Jess! Wow, it's a stunner on you - love those shoes and your "candy" bag too. Great accessorizing. And shout out to Mum in her lovely leopard.
I hope you're having a good week so far!
I know, right? Seafood is the best!
DeleteThanks for all your compliments. I love this dress and I'm looking forward to wearing it to the next fancy occasion. X
Your vintage Summer frock is gorgeous, Jess, and so is that sweet little bag. I'm also loving the purple eye-shadow on you. I usually wear lilac or purple eye-shadow. It's a very flattering shade. Oh my, Crown does look like an amazing place, and your plate of seafood does look truly scrumptious. I'm actually salivating here :-) xxx
ReplyDeletePurple eyeshadow is pretty fab, in my opinion. I'd love to see a close up of yours one day.
DeleteCrown is a wee bit fancy and thinking back to the food certainly makes me salivate too. X
