On my last work holidays, my mum and I went on some nice winter walks and went out to eat a few times. One morning, we went to my favourite, Canolli Bar. I so enjoyed the Sicilian canolli filled with not-too-sweet ricotta, some chocolate chips and it was topped with a glazed cherry and orange rind. It was so, so delicious, I really loved it!


Next, we went for a leisurely walk in the sunshine and found some beautiful trees with orange leaves.




For lunch, we went to The Boathouse near the Maribyrnong River. I was still so full after eating the canolli so I just ordered something small. The beetroot and gin cured salmon turned out to be so delicious, I really enjoyed it.

A little while ago, I visited a beautiful rose garden in Werribee with my family.  It's a gentle, fragrant experience, strolling around paths that offer  a new scent to discover as you stop to smell the different roses.  Each bloom has its own personality and colour, filling the air with fragrance.  We enjoyed a picnic of schnitzels, fresh rolls, and crisp coleslaw, the food tasting even better outdoors.  I rugged up in a big, fluffy, sunflower coat and enjoyed being outside in nature. You light me up like starlight on a Christmas tree

 As always, I've been busy, busy, busy this week. Yes it is worth writing three times, but then again the end of year is a busy time for many people. Christmas shopping and celebrating, catching up with loved ones, racing to the end of the work year. Yesterday was spent visiting family friends which was nice. This morning I had brunch with a couple of friends from high school. It's always good to catch up on each other's lives and while away hours chatting. Some other dear family friends visited this afternoon and now I've got the last few hours of the weekend to myself. Before I get to relaxing, I wanted to share some Christmas-y photos with you. This is my family's beloved Christmas tree that goes up every October 31st (I know that sounds super early and crazy but we don't care). These are the days of our lives

  The last of my beach holiday posts is here!  Much like our last holiday , this one came to a sudden halt. It started out like a normal day. My family and I browsed some of the Eden shops - the hippie shop, a new op-shop and the $2 shop. We visited the lookout, a gorgeous place where you can see a 180 degree view of the ocean. We took photos, gazed at the water, watched boats glide by and heard overseas holidaymakers chattering away with their lovely accents and languages.   We went to the Fisherman's Club for lunch, a small way to say 'thank you' to the small business that gave us shelter when we had to evacuate from bush-fires last year. We spotted the pokies machines area where we'd had to sleep on the carpet with hundreds of other people. The room will be forever etched in my mind as it was such a frightening situation but seeing it in the daylight was very strange as I almost didn't recognise it.     We walked upstairs to the eating area and I umm-ed and ...
