You've been on my mind






Today would have been my nonna's 84th birthday 🧡 

She would always call my mum, sister and I on our birthdays, first thing in the morning, and shower us with love and compliments, calling us kind, clever, beautiful and being near tears as she spoke to us. Of course, every February 16th, we would do the same for her, delighting in making her feel as special and loved as she always made us feel.

 This morning, I would have been calling her and saying what a beautiful, loving grandmother she's always been and that I'd visit her soon, and we'd talk about our family, her friends, what we were both growing in our gardens, she'd ask about my love life, we'd speak about the latest episode of Married At First Sight and what we were having for dinner. This morning I had the most vivid, comforting dream of her and I'm happy I can still speak with her, even if only in my dreams. 🧡

    What a beautiful tribute to your nonna! It’s clear she had such a loving and nurturing presence in your life. Those calls filled with compliments and love must have meant the world to you and your family. It’s lovely that you keep her spirit alive by remembering the little things you used to do together.

After 11 weeks of term 2, preparing reports and completing parent-teacher interviews, I farewelled my grade 2 students, and began my two weeks of holidays. I was looking forward to spending time with my family and grandparents, as well as squeezing in some day trips. My mum and I returned to our favourite place, Daylesford. It was a cold, winter's day so we rugged up in big coats which kept us surprisingly toasty. I wore my tartan coat that I recently bought at a market. Promised you a miracle

 Where do you buy your clothing from? Opshops? Online shops? Retail stores? For a while, I hadn't been buying much clothing as my wardrobe is absolutely full! From time to time, I sell pieces from my wardrobe on eBay to slowly thin out my collection. Although recently I fell into an eBay rabbit hole and have purchased quite a few nice dresses.  I bought this  Tree Of Life  dress on eBay after admiring the exact same one my mum has. I tried on her dress, so knew which size to buy. It popped up immediately when I looked it up online, and for less than $30 including postage, it was mine ! Leopard is always fabulous, I think. I enjoyed wearing it for a get-together with family friends at my uncle Arthur's house a little while ago. This cotton, brown and cream kaftan was also from Tree of Life. I wore it recently when going to see Simple Minds play at the Red Hot Summer Tour. And boy was it hot, at 35 °C     we were so sweaty, people were fainting around us...

Kiss me goodbye, defying gravity

 Some things that have been giving me joy lately... 1. This cute ladybird that landed on my hand. Thanks for the good luck, ladybird! 2. A delicious dinner my sister cooked. 3. Some flowers I bought for myself. They were on special for $8 and I couldn't resist. The colours were bright and made me smile. 4. These fresh cherries picked on one of my walks around the neighbourhood. I was thrilled to spot a cherry tree growing on a nature strip! 5. Speaking of cherries, my sister surprised my family and I with this delicious cherry pie! It's inspired me to make my own cherry pie one day! 6. Cherry red nails to match the ongoing cherry theme (of course)! 7. Last but not least, going to the movies to watch Wicked . My sister and I kindly received LUX movie tickets for Christmas from my Chico last year and we finally used them to watch the musical Wicked . I absolutely love the Wizard of Oz (as you may have noticed here and here ), but wasn't sure if I'd like the Wicked movie....
