Dreaming of Vintage Treasures

A day in the life of a school teacher on holidays...  1. Sleep in I was sick during part of my holidays and I don't think I slept in more than twice but on this particular day I did. Yay! 2. Plant seeds I've planted leek, basil and tomato seeds as well as the ones pictured below. I've been watering them, which is something I've neglected to do in the past, but not this time! I can't wait for the sunflowers and vegetables to grow! 3. Pick some broad beans from the garden. I like picking them when they're small as they're sweeter. 4. Make a simple breakfast and admire my mum's roses. Greek yoghurt, salted peanuts, strawberries and maple syrup - delicious! 5. Picnic On this particular day, I intended to stay home all day, but my mum wanted to visit Footscray Park to see the purple wisteria that blossoms there each year. A day by the beach, what could be better? One sunny day on my work holidays, my mum and I visited Geelong beach. First we popped into the Vintage Mills Market. Looks at these vintage treasures... Next we strolled by the beach.  Passing the  carousal , we couldn't resist having some childlike fun. The Carousel's website says: " The Armitage-Herschell portable steam driven, hand-carved wooden carousel was constructed circa 1892 and is one of only 200 in operation around the world.   Featuring 36 Dare horses and 2 chariots, it was purchased by the Steampacket Place Development Board in 1996 and painstakingly restored." The view from the carosaul centre is beautiful. For lunch, we ate at a lovely restaurant by the beach called Fisherman's Pier. We love returning to enjoy the seafood linguini - delicious!  The four beach ladies waved us goodbye as we made our way back to our car. Goodbye beach, it was nice seeing you!  I've got to be honest, I've never enjoyed weddings. I don't like the small talk and rarely enjoy the food because growing up I had to attend lots of weddings with my family for relatives that I didn't even know the name of! But recently I've been to some weddings of people I love and care about, one being my family friend Sharna. A few weeks ago we celebrated her special day, starting off with delicious food and Serbian music and dancing at her home whilst she got her hair and makeup done. I've since discovered a new favourite antipasti, marinated octopus! Have you tried it? It's so delicious! We brought her some flowers... and I couldn't resist snapping some of the other pretty flowers at the florist too. Then we went to an Anglican church for the ceremony which was conducted by a female priest!  At times, social media can be wonderful! My mum and I saw a Cherry Hill Orchards reel and admired the beautiful blossoms so we decided to visit and make a day out of it.  After a long drive to Wandin, we were greeted with the pretty sight of rows and rows of cherry trees filled with crisp, white blossoms. In the store, there were many cute, cherry themed products being sold including cherry jam, cherry chutney, cherry liquor, cherry sauces, cherry hats and stationary.  I thought these bee candles were cute. We enjoyed a cherry ripe ice-cream. It was so delicious. The cherry on top was a nice touch. I wore my Kmart pink/purple gingham dress with a rose quartz necklace, my vintage, tooled leather bag and my trusty brown, leather boots. Walking through the rows of cherry blossoms, we spotted an old, depilated cottage that my mum would've loved to renovate, some bee hives and a lovely big lake. We ended the day with a lovely picnic.
