...Well it's my birthday too, yeah

My birthday and my mum's birthday are exactly one week apart so May is always a fun month for us. I had the most beautiful birthday weekend last week. Let me tell you all about it...


On Friday, I had a busy day planning at school and my students absolutely spoilt me with so many lovely cards and cute little gifts. I came home to a lovely dinner mum made - stuffed peppers (my favourite), pork, potatoes and a green bean salad. I'd ordered a Francese cake from Brunetti too! A delicious, creamy chocolate mousse cake - divine!


 One of the highlights of the night was howling with laughter over the message my dad wrote in my birthday card. He usually writes really sweet, sentimental messages but this one was so ridiculous, my mum, sister, Pat and I were all crying with laughter. My family and boyfriend spoilt me with beautiful presents, I absolutely loved everything.

 

The next morning, a Saturday, I chipped away at my students' reports. After lunch, I went to my uncle Arthur's house and spent time with him and my dear friend Renee and her adorable daughter Eleni. 


Eleni was so smiley and always wanted to keep us in her sight. I loved cuddling with her, she is the most precious princess.

 

On Sunday, my family, uncle, dedo, Pat and I went out to lunch at one of my favourite places - Brunetti, the place where I'd bought my cake. I ate some pasta and wood-fire pizza - yum. The desserts were also delicious, I especially enjoyedthe rum baba and sfogliatelle. On the way home, my mum spotted some trees with lovely, orange leaves so we took some photos there.

 

 

 

Yummy food and time spent with loved ones - a perfect birthday weekend.

  A little while ago, my mum, sister and I had lunch at one of our favourite places in the city, Conservatory. It's an all you can eat restaurant with a wide variety of food. Mostly I dream of the seafood and I was SO excited to go. I love the lighted ceiling and marble staircase that greets you on the way in. I wore my new-to-me cream midi dress with cute puffy sleeves that I recently bought at a market for $7. I wasn't sure if the colour would suit me, but I like how it looks with the coral necklace. Beach baby, beach baby, give me your hand

A day by the beach, what could be better? One sunny day on my work holidays, my mum and I visited Geelong beach. First we popped into the Vintage Mills Market. Looks at these vintage treasures... Next we strolled by the beach.  Passing the  carousal , we couldn't resist having some childlike fun. The Carousel's website says: " The Armitage-Herschell portable steam driven, hand-carved wooden carousel was constructed circa 1892 and is one of only 200 in operation around the world.   Featuring 36 Dare horses and 2 chariots, it was purchased by the Steampacket Place Development Board in 1996 and painstakingly restored." The view from the carosaul centre is beautiful. For lunch, we ate at a lovely restaurant by the beach called Fisherman's Pier. We love returning to enjoy the seafood linguini - delicious!  The four beach ladies waved us goodbye as we made our way back to our car. Goodbye beach, it was nice seeing you! I go leaps and bounds

A few weeks ago, my mum, dad and I spent the day in Geelong, catching up with some family and friends. Julie, Andy and their children were down from Queensland for the weekend to watch their son Joel play football, so it was a perfect chance to catch up.  It was nice watching the game, chatting and laughing non-stop. This bunch are always cracking jokes and I delighted in our giggles. Being outside all day, I rugged up in my new fluffy coat, my Christmas present from mum this year. I squeezed in a sneaky wear of it before I wrapped it up in Christmas paper.  My mum has a maroon Afghan coat and a tan one, which I sometimes borrow. You may recall them from my blog posts here and here . Now I have one of my own, thank you mum! I practically pounced on it, when I saw it on sale. I've been secondhand shopping for so long, I forgot that retail stores have end of season sales! The coat kept me toasty all day, even into the night as we headed to a pub hotel for a final gathering and chat.
