Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Image
A few days ago it was my sister's birthday. Luckily we both had a day off work so we went to the cinemas. We watched 'Parasite' - a funny but horrifying Korean film. It is a story of a family's financial struggles and their desperation leads them into a manipulative, deceiving life. I had to shut my eyes at the end of the film - it was so violent and graphic. Source We ate a banh-mi for lunch which was memorable because it was so, so spicy! I only ate half of it and had to take the rest home to eat  between sips of cooling milk! And to think that I can actually handle chilli!  In the evening, my dedo, uncle and cousins came over for dinner and chocolate ripple cake (I made it, it's my sister's favourite).  We had a quiet Christmas Eve at home where my mum cooked seafood spaghetti and we celebrated Christmas Day at my friend Renee's house. It was lovely catching up with everyone and the food was delicious! I wore a golden dress, my chil

Then away went Rudolph, reelin' like a merry-go-round

I absolutely love Christmas! I'm looking forward to catching up with friends and family. I've been listening to my Elvis Christmas album and as I mentioned in my last post , I've been in the Christmas spirit all month! My special golden tree , on my bedside table. Can you spot the Rolling Stones badge, shell, cowboy boot and sausage dog? Here are some photos that were taken on October 31st when my mum, sister and I put up our Christmas tree. I know it's early (!!) but it's been a tradition that we've been doing for 20+ years. This year I wanted to share photos of some of my favourite ornaments...  Geisha and lantern. The cutest toadstools. A glass slipper. We used to take turns putting this one up each year because it's our favourite decoration. And a chocolate covered strawberry good enough to eat! We've collected these decorations over many, many years, buying 1-2 each year. I wait until after Christmas

And so this is Christmas, I hope you have fun

What a busy time of year it is.  I have finished classes with my students and I am certainly going to miss them. They have progressed in so many ways.  I have completed a very long day of parent-teacher-student interviews, and had two work Christmas parties. Double the fun, hilarity and delicious food! I enjoy working with the teachers at my school and it's always good to have a laugh with them. But right now I am here to dazzle you with some photos!  I have been LIVING in this snake print dress lately.  I love the simplicity of wearing dresses. Just add some boots/summer sandals (if it's hot), a belt, a necklace and a bag and you're ready to go! Everything I'm wearing was found secondhand at absolute bargain prices. Beaded bag - $2 (and I've seen them being sold for $50-$70 in a retail store!) Dress- $10 Belt - $10 Mock-croc boots- $20 (I rarely ever spend this much on one item of clothing/shoes  but I had been searching for a pai

And we danced like a wave on the ocean

Another week, another outfit post.  I quite like this outfit. It was perfect for a cold morning at the market. In fact, every single thing I'm wearing is secondhand and I remember every purchase because I was so excited about each piece.  The turtleneck is wool, made in Italy and only cost $2! I couldn't hand over my money fast enough.  I bought this vintage, sheep wool jacket a couple of years ago for $10. I practically leaped at it! I think you get my point. Secondhand shopping is fantastic. Not only can you score a real bargain, it's sustainable AND you can find some fabulous pieces. After a morning of market fun, I headed off to a baptism for my cousin Stephanie's baby.  It was lovely to catch up with my extended family. I love chatting to my Aunty Zora and my other cousin regaled me with tales of all the wild fun he had on his recent  trip  overseas. And we danced - that's one thing you can guarantee at any Macedonian celebr

Last night I went to see Liam Gallagher perform! I bought tickets for my mum and I to go, so I rushed home from, we quickly ate dinner and practised our dance moves in the back yard, as you do.   Then off we went! I am such a nana and hate going out on a "school night" and of course I was yawning at 9.30pm!  We watched Sydney band Planet open the show, with Gerry Cinnamon playing after them. He bounced around the stage and made the crowd go wild. I had no clue who he was, but everyone seemed to know his songs. My mum and I must have stood out in a sea of people wearing black, or parkas (a nod to Liam's iconic look) and there were even a few guys with Oasis style haircuts and sunglasses (!!!). Source Finally at 9.30pm, Liam got on stage and I was in my element. Everyone was up and out of their seats for the entire show and I had a blast singing and dancing along to the songs. The crowd was so eager and a little wild, with people crowd s

I returned to my favourite country town, Daylesford, a little while ago. My mum wanted to visit a quaint, little shop that sells the most gorgeous home-wares, many of which are made in Europe.   After countless years of admiring a particular set of drinking glasses made in France, my mum finally decided that this year was the year she'd get them. In the past, the high price had always put her off but I offered to buy them for her as a Christmas present and she happily agreed. Any excuse and I'm happy to visit Daylesford . After purchasing the glasses, we bought some honey from our favourite seller, who collects honey from across Australia. We wandered around Lake Jubilee, it's so beautiful and peaceful. I never, ever want to leave. I loved watching the ducks. It's not often that a suburb gal like me get to see ducks, so I always appreciate it.   We even came across some peacocks.  I may have been smiling in this photo, but really

It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away

Recently, I had the most beautiful day out to Williamstown with my mum and sister.   First I spotted an old church right across the road from the beach and I had to have a look. My mum and I love old churches and marveled at all the stain glass windows. We walked along the pier - the beach was dazzling in the sunlight. For lunch, we had a banh mi roll and walked over to eat by the beach. I loved watching the black swans swimming with their five little babies.  My mum fancied going on a boat cruise which surprised my sister and I, as she developed a huge fear of boats the last time we were on one. We raced to the boat, food still in hand, as it was just about to take off. We hopped on and enjoyed ourselves so much that we were practically beaming the whole time. At first I stayed inside the boat, gazing out the windows but then decided that I'd have a better view on the top deck.  The weather was perfect, it was nice and sunny.  We made a wis
