I heard the streets were paved with gold

Ahhh Southbank!  A beautiful place with many wonderful restaurants and a view of the river.  Once in a while, my mum and I love to return there for a fancy day out to Conservatory , which is a buffet restaurant with delicious food.  The seafood is the highlight, and we dream of the oysters, crabs and prawns.  Every time we eat way too much food, promise ourselves we won't return and then magically find our way back there six months later! For the occassion, I wore my blue maxi dress for the first time, paired with my orange, leather sandals.  With my freshly henna-ed hair, plus the colour combination of blue and orange, I feel like Ariel the mermaid. My mum wore her gorgeous ditsy floral dress and some comfy sandals. If you could eat anything in the world, irrespective of cost, what would it be? X Title : Radio by Lana Del Rey. Bright light city gonna set my soul, gonna set my soul on fire

For a foodie, the Conservatory in the city is a dream come true. A beautiful buffet filled with every food imaginable and situated by the water, it is no wonder that my mum and I love returning there a couple of times a year.  We daydream about the fresh seafood, especially the oysters, crabs, prawns and vongole.  There are so many desserts to choose from! This time I enjoyed the tiramisu, strawberries in chocolate, Persian fairy floss and New York cheesecake. It is a gorgeous, fancy place with marble, hanging lights and glitzy costumes near the big entrance that leads up to the restaurant, so naturally we love to dress up.  This time I wore a maroon velvet dress and my vintage fur coat, along with a vintage bag and snake print boots.  My mum wore a beautiful red tartan skirt that she made herself with a denim jacket. If you had the option to eat anything in the world, what would you choose? Title : Viva Las Vegas by Elvis Presley.

There'll always be a rainbow hanging over your head

I love being on work holidays, and being able to sleep in if I wish, have a leisurely breakfast without rushing to work and sipping on a hot drink. I like collecting cute mugs and recently added this bunny one to my collection. I'm assuming someone bought it around Easter time this year as I'd seen it new in the shops and they've already gotten rid of it a few months later, as I found it last month in an op-shop for $1. Or maybe it was an unwanted Easter gift. Whatever the case, I love it.   On Monday, mum and I went to our favourite country town, Daylesford. We admired a rainbow as we drove over the hills. We spotted it when it was beginning to form and watched it until it finally become a big, full rainbow. It soon became rainy so my mum and I sat in the car by a lake for an hour, chit chatting. A bit like a therapy session, we talked about everything.   Finally we ventured out when the rain stopped for a moment and took some photos by Lake Jubilee.   Outfit details:...

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up in the morning when the day is new?

The holiday fun continues... My sister, mum and I drove down to the Eden wharf to buy some mussels fresh off the boat. Turned out, there weren't any mussels available. So we walked across the wharf and bought some oysters and lobsters from a nice fisherman.    Mum cooked spaghetti with cherry tomato sauce and we had the seafood as well. Soooo delicious! The lobster was a rare treat. I think I've only tasted it once before. We thought it tasted like a cross between a crab and a prawn. Very, very nice. I watched an episode of Antiques Roadshow (a nice routine I slipped into while away) and played chess with Dad (defeated, The Queen's Gambit has my sister and dad hooked!). Later, my sister and I went for a walk on the beach. The next day started with yoghurt and mango for breakfast and continued with a BBQ lunch. Alex and I swam in the beach, which was so lovely. I've had some wonky bathers in the past but these maroon ones are indeed the best and most flattering I...

A little while ago, my family and I were invited to a very fancy 1st birthday at Crown Conservatory in the city.  As it was a weekday, my sister and dad couldn't attend because they were at work. My mum and I were very happy to dress up and go. I hadn't been to Crown before but had heard the food was delicious so we were excited to go. It's time to pull out this vintage dress! I thought. I bought it last year at a market for $10 and the seller told me that she'd bought it in her home country New Zealand. She even remembered the exact year she acquired it - 1977. I think she bought it for her formal or some other occasion. Though my memory fails me, I was thrilled to hear the back story.  I paired it with this small vintage bag, which I call my 'candy' bag as the beads remind me of sweets.  With my amethyst rings and silver strappy shoes, I was ready to have a nice time.  I don't often wear eye-shadow but whenever ...

Under a Blood Red Sky

On Day 5 of our Eden holiday, the last day of 2019, we woke up to find a magnificent red sun. It reflected on the water, making it sparkle like orange diamonds and immediately reminded me of a U2 song.  My mum.  Later, I went for my usual beach walk and saw a man meditating on the beach and then he walked straight into the water for a swim. What a perfect way to start the morning, I thought. Except for the fact that swimming before 10 am is referred to as 'shark hour' but, you know, some people have no fear. Outfit details: Leopard dress, belt and ring - secondhand market finds. Pink thongs- forgive me, I'm on holiday! My mum and I went to the Eden wharf to buy some seafood for lunch. We met a lovely, talkative lady (just our kind) with a New Zealand accent who was selling seafood. We came away with oysters, mussels, snapper, prawns and a lovely chat. This was my favourite me...
