Dancing on the jetty

Travel with me in my time machine, back to the last day of summer, before the corona virus pandemic took over the world. Now, what's the perfect way to celebrate the last day of summer? Go to the beach of course! A few Saturdays ago, on a whim, my family and I decided to do just that. We bought some food from the supermarket when we arrived in  Altona and had a little picnic by the water. We nibbled on basil dip, crackers, olives, stuffed mini peppers, bread rolls,  slices of turkey and cheese. It was really yum and beautiful to be by the beach. Seed bag  - Bought new with tags at a second hand market.  Ring  - Another secondhand market find, I traded four little rings for this stunner. I was thrilled as I had never traded anything before! Turquoise cuff - Daylesford Mills Market  on this trip . Dress  - Borrowed from my mum.  My mum and I went for a walk and came across a community event with all sorts of games such as basketball and table

I've finally decided my future lies beyond the yellow brick road

Let me take you back in time to a little while ago when we went to an Elton John concert. It was a busy day, which started off with a visit to my Baba's grave for a 'day of the dead' where Macedonians gather at cemeteries, bring some food to eat and remember their loved ones. My mum made these delicious corn quiches. Have I ever told you that my mum's a fantastic cook? Then we went to one of my favourite places, the valley.    I figured the snakes wouldn't bother me in this snakeprint dress. Maybe they'd think I was one of them. Mind you, my sister has spotted a snake here in the past. I almost regret that I missed it. I think I didn't notice because I was too busy talking (of course!). We've even seen a wallaby in the valley, which was exciting. Basking in the sun. That's an old train line in the distance. Outfit details: Dress ($10), vintage bag ($7), sunglasses ($2) and boots ($5) - secondhand

Catch up, cats and kittens, don't get left behind

You're not scared of black cats, are you? I sure hope not because we recently fostered two adorable kittens. My mum, sister and I spent the whole drive to the RSPCA thinking of iconic duo names (such as Bonnie and Clyde or Elvis and Priscilla) but  after seeing the soft black fur on these kittens we just HAD to name them Sonny and Cher! The real Sonny and Cher, if you were wondering. The kittens hadn't had much human contact before coming home with us. The vet advised that we gradually build up our contact with them. At first they hissed and hid from us but after a couple of days they were sleeping in our laps.  We looked after them for a few weeks until they had gained enough weight to be returned to the RSPCA and sold. This is the third or fourth time we've fostered kittens over the years and nothing prepares you for having to return them. Of course I cried but my sister's very sensible, reminding us that we've done a good thing caring f

Mama liked the roses

What are your favourite flowers? I love sunflowers, tulips , daffodils and of course roses!  My mum also grows roses in the back yard, as you may have noticed in some previous posts. So we were pleasantly surprised when we went on a picnic to Werribee Mansion with friends and family on Australia Day and we noticed a fantastic rose garden nearby. I'm a bit ( read: a lot ) behind on blogging as A ustralia Day was on January 26th but this rose garden is too beautiful not to share. There was every variety, colour and fragrance imaginable. I had to giggle to myself as my aunty Carmel, mum and I stopped at practically every rose and said "Mmmm, smell this rose.......  mmm, smell this one..." I loved these purple roses, although they look a bit pink in these photos. I had such a lovely day sitting underneath a tree, eating yummy food, wandering around the rose garden and playing a bizarre but fun card game that I've since forg
