Oh, the sweetest thing

Welcome back to one of my favourite cafes - Old Man Drew. It's has such a beautiful, quirky and retro atmosphere. Plus the food's delicious. In the past,  I had a heart-warming home made pie and a cherry pie . I still dream of those meals! The last time my mum and I went, we just popped in for a slice of cheesecake and hot chocolate. It was creamy, rich and filled me up so much, I didn't feel like eating lunch after that. They should pay me for how much I boast about them!       Around this time, we got Covid and then I could only dream about going to nice places and eating out. I spent the next very hot week laying in a hammock, reading and generally feeling a bit miserable.        I felt exhausted for weeks, but I'm much better now, 2 months on. I'll be getting my 4th booster shot in a few months. How about you?   Anyway, enough covid talk. Look at the beautiful sights that can be seen around every corner of Old Man Drew. ...

You've been all over and it's been all over you

Day 2 of our holiday began with a trip to the Sunny Ridge strawberry farm in Rosebud. We got to pick our own strawberries and take them home. Of course we also ate some whilst picking! I wore my red maxi dress - perfectly matching the strawberries!     After picking 4 containers of strawberries, my family and I ate at the the farm cafe under some beautiful grape vines. Mum and I chatted to a nice lady who kindly let us share her table as the place was busy. We loved the strawberry ice-cream sundae - delicious!  On the way back to the motel, we stopped off at a winery. Gosh everything is stunning in Rosebud and it's remarkable how the beach, wineries and the countryside are all in one place. After lunch, we revisited the beach across the road from the motel. We relaxed in the water and I loved floating on my back, it was a moment of peacefulness and gratitude. Needless to say I always hate having to leave the beach and practically had to be dragged away. We ended the da...

See the world in green and blue

Hello! We're three and a half weeks into our second lockdown here in Melbourne and new restrictions have been imposed as the number of corona virus cases continues to rise. In such a tumultuous year, it's so easy to get caught up in all the negativity. In fact, throughout our lives there are so many events that can be traumatic to us, but that is simply the human experience and I am choosing to look on the bright side. In our morning video meetings, my students and I practise gratitude every Thursday - we call it Thankful Thursday! They are so sweet and love sharing what they are grateful for. And I try to practise what I preach, so here are some things I am grateful for: - Daily walks through a valley - Doing a bit of crocheting each day - Making some lavosh crackers and apple chutney yesterday - The sunshine we've had this weekend - A loved one coming back into my life   I could go on and on. It's the little things that count! During this ...

Under a Blood Red Sky

On Day 5 of our Eden holiday, the last day of 2019, we woke up to find a magnificent red sun. It reflected on the water, making it sparkle like orange diamonds and immediately reminded me of a U2 song.  My mum.  Later, I went for my usual beach walk and saw a man meditating on the beach and then he walked straight into the water for a swim. What a perfect way to start the morning, I thought. Except for the fact that swimming before 10 am is referred to as 'shark hour' but, you know, some people have no fear. Outfit details: Leopard dress, belt and ring - secondhand market finds. Pink thongs- forgive me, I'm on holiday! My mum and I went to the Eden wharf to buy some seafood for lunch. We met a lovely, talkative lady (just our kind) with a New Zealand accent who was selling seafood. We came away with oysters, mussels, snapper, prawns and a lovely chat. This was my favourite me...
