Not too long ago, my mum and I visited the Tulip Farm in Silvan, when I was on work holidays. It was still cold, so I rugged up in my new-to-me big coat. I'm not certain if it suits me or not. Perhaps I'll wear it a few more times and if I don't absolutely love it, I'll sell it. What do you think?   One thing was certain, the tulips were absolutely beautiful. We've visited the tulip farm before and I delighted in returning. I couldn't wait to eat the Dutch poffertjes. Sprinkled in icing sugar and butter, they were delicious.     Around every corner there was something magical to see.       Mum and I decided to plant some tulips in our garden and before long we had red, yellow and purple tulips brightening up our day. The bulbs multiplied so once they finished flowering, I pulled them out and dried them to replant for next year. Have you grown tulips before?         There was even a daffodil corner! The daffodil bulbs ...

Thought of your future with one foot in the past, now just how long will it last?

Last week, we got a day off on Thursday, as a national day of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II. It didn't make a difference to me as I was already on work holidays, but it's great that others got a day off.   My family and I decided to make the most of the day by going to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival in Silvan. Luckily we'd packed a picnic lunch and ended up eating our rolls and leftover KFC in the car! My sister also spotted a stand where apples were being sold so we enjoyed some green, sour apples too. Finally, we got fed up with the long line of cars trying to get into the carpark so we made a u-turn and found somewhere else to visit for the day. We spotted Warratine Lavender Farm and decided to stop in there. I got so overheated walking around the lavender fields in the warm sun, I couldn't wait to order ...

As Elvis Presley once said, "the key to happiness is someone to love, something to do and something to look forward to." So in the spirit of those wise words, I'd like to share what I've been up to and some things I'm looking forward to.  I've been... - Wearing my vintage and retro clothes (as always)! These red boots make me feel like I'm a Charlie's Angel from the seventies, ready to karate chop any villains! Ha! - Doing some lesson planning for work. - Spending time in my Dedo's garden. - Visiting the cemetery and eating some  Eiffel Tower Italian cakes with my family in honour of what would have been my Baba's 84th birthday tomorrow. - Making my own pizza on Lebanese bread for my family and Dedo. What can I say, sometimes I'm a good cook! Things I'm looking forward: - Being on school holidays next week. Being a teacher is hard , let me tell you, but having time off for sc...
