Please don't put your life in the hands of a rock 'n' roll band

These are the craziest pants I own! Leopard print and velvet, can you top that? I took these photos a while ago, when my nonna was staying over for a few days when I had my last work holidays. We'd just been to Footscray to buy some canolli and I took these quick snaps when we got home. I've wanted leopard prints pants for years, ever since I saw these photos from the sixties, of Anita Pallenberg rocking these wild pants. She's an endless source of style inspiration for me. I was thrilled when I found these pants online. I don't usually buy clothes online as I prefer to see them in the flesh, but when I saw these, I decided to buy them. I've never seen leopard flares in the shops or at markets before, so it was now or never!  Look at the flares! Who are your style inspirations and what's the craziest piece of clothing you own?  Title : Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis. (I couldn't think of a son

School's out again! After three days of being on holidays, I've got to admit, I'm still exhausted. I'm lucky that, as a teacher, I have extra holidays than the average working person, I'm not complaining! One of the things that I mentioned I'm looking forward to in my last blog post was going on some day trips whilst I'm on holidays, and that's exactly what I got to do over the weekend. I went to St. Kilda with my family. We had a big breakfast at a cafe then went to hang  out by the beach.  I haven't visited a beach since the beginning of January, so I was eager to just be surrounded by it, even if it was a bit cold and windy.  Being at the beach makes me feel so free and happy.  I love that I captured these photos and can relive it all. We popped into an op-shop on the way home. I came out empty handed but I enjoyed the conversation with the locals. That's one thing I really like ab

As Elvis Presley once said, "the key to happiness is someone to love, something to do and something to look forward to." So in the spirit of those wise words, I'd like to share what I've been up to and some things I'm looking forward to.  I've been... - Wearing my vintage and retro clothes (as always)! These red boots make me feel like I'm a Charlie's Angel from the seventies, ready to karate chop any villains! Ha! - Doing some lesson planning for work. - Spending time in my Dedo's garden. - Visiting the cemetery and eating some  Eiffel Tower Italian cakes with my family in honour of what would have been my Baba's 84th birthday tomorrow. - Making my own pizza on Lebanese bread for my family and Dedo. What can I say, sometimes I'm a good cook! Things I'm looking forward: - Being on school holidays next week. Being a teacher is hard , let me tell you, but having time off for sc

I love Winter and all, but I have to say, I'm glad it's now Spring in Australia. Waking up to more sunshine makes my heart happy. Literally, my heart feels content. Has anyone else ever had that feeling before? On Saturday, I looked at a planting guide that I have up on the fridge and realised that September's the perfect time to plant a lot of the seeds I collected last year. I was thrilled to plant my pumpkin, tomato and basil seeds, as well as some of my Dedo's long pepper seeds. My broad beans, kale and sunflower plants are already growing so well, I love growing plants I can eat.  This is the first time I've grown sunflowers and I'm really excited. The look of them just makes me happy. No doubt, my love for sunflowers probably began with 'Individuals', one of my favourite Sunnyboys  records which has a sunflower field on the front cover. Sunflowers also feature in some of their artwork. Source I got this poster at the

Hello again!  I was meaning to write this post on Monday, but the  week's gotten away from me again. Last weekend was a weekend full of family. On Saturday, we had my mum's family over for lunch and on Sunday we had my dad's family over for Father's Day. My mum made this Strawberry Charlotte. She's rather fancy, isn't she?! Gotta love her, she makes the best food, I'd never complain! On Sunday, my mum and I went to the market and I found a few cheap thrills: $5 Johnny Cash record, $5 vintage bag, and a whole heap of bangles for $2. I also picked up this vintage bangle for a real bargain. I have seen ones like it from time to time, and they always sell for silly money. One of the regular sellers said that a similar one that he was selling came from India 45 years ago! I've read similar things online and some were apparently even made in Afghanistan.  I'd love to know more about these types of bangles. I'

I love old photos from the sixties and seventies, highlighting the fashion of the time. As I listen to a lot of old bands, I'm more familiar with those types of images - of musicians and the fab clothes they wore. Nevertheless it's interesting to see the street fashion of everyday individuals in that time period too. Fluffy coats galore: Source Source Source I love these boots... Source Source ...and the star pants! Source Source And the shoes! They deserve their own post!  See you soon in a new post. Title : Tiny Dancer by Elton John.
