They say it's your birthday...

Image
In my last post , I wrote about celebrating my birthday with a day trip to Daylesford.  After a busy day out, I decided to relax a bit on Sunday, my actual birthday. Not that I slept in or anything, my mum and I were up bright and early to head off to a market. Here's what I found: Vintage glasses, leopard print jacket, purple skirt and purple velvet boots! I've been looking for a fluffy leopard jacket for years and finally found one.  I often see them at markets but they're always too big, too small, or in a bulky shape.  I'm really happy with this jacket and can't wait to wear it. When we got home, my sister decided to jump out from behind a door and  greet  scare me with a birthday surprise! I squealed no end! I also tried on my new-to-me vintage glasses. My sister thinks they're too big, but I love them! I received some really nice messages and phone calls from my friends and family. My Dedo (grandfather

Day Tripper

It was my birthday on Sunday and I had a lovely weekend celebrating it.  On Saturday, my family and I went to a beautiful country town called Daylesford. I've been there countless times, it's my happy place. Whenever we visit Daylesford, we always stop off first to get a big tub of honey.   I use it in a hot drink everyday, so I go through it really quickly. I love the honey from Daylesford, there's so many varieties and they let you taste test it too! I love going to the Daylesford Mills Market as well. There's heaps of stalls, with lots of used and vintage items. I found two records and a fab purple velvet jacket. I can't wait to wear it! My family kindly bought my finds for me as a birthday treat. As much as I love the market in Daylesford, I also love being surrounded by the nature there. It makes me feel genuinely peaceful. We had a stroll around the Daylesford lake and collected some mineral water from the springs.

It was my Mum's birthday on Sunday. I love when there's a birthday, it's a good excuse to do something nice as a family. My mum and I were eager to go to the market. I wore my new-to-me patchwork skirt that I bought there a few weeks ago. I was umm-ing and ahh-ing when I first spotted it, but decided to buy it because I love anything that's patchwork and it's such an early 1970s, folk style. I bought some pot plants as a small gift for my mum's birthday and made her a long crotchet scarf that she asked me to make. I had also made her another scarf for Mother's Day a little while ago. She's loving long, skinny scarves at the moment. For Mother's Day, I also bought her a snakeskin bag and I'm not sure how I can top a present like that, but she wants to go shopping some to find a belated present. After the market, we went home to eat some homemade trifle. We don't usually eat cake for breakfast,

The other day, I wore this outfit to work. I always feel a bit like I'm channeling Stevie Nicks when I wear this shirt. Source The sleeves are enormous!  I just had to pose dramatically to show them off! I also wore my new-to-me Italian made clogs, which you may have spotted in this post.  Being part Italian myself, I love finding items made in Italy.  Growing up, I remember my mum and nonna telling me that most things that were made in Italy are of really good quality. So now every time I buy something made in Italy, I love to show it to my nonna. So far I've been able to show her an Italian-made bangle and bag that I bought from a market, and I'm eager to show her my clogs too. As much as I love the look of them, I have to admit, they aren't the most comfortable shoes in the world. When I saw fellow vintage collector Candice  wearing a pair of tan clogs, I asked her if hers are uncomfortable too. She agreed

I've been lusting over snakeskin boots for a long, long time. In my mind, they're synonymous with rock and roll in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Keith Richards Marianne Faitfull Brian Jones Seeing as I haven't been able to find an authentic, vintage pair, I've settled for some modern ones.  I occasionally spot some vintage pairs on eBay, but I can't justify spending three or four figure prices on shoes. I have a grey and white pair, and as you might have noticed in this post , I recently spotted a tan pair at a market. At first, I wasn't sure about them as the heel was a bit too tall for me and it was see-through (which you can't really notice in these photos). Even though they're not vintage, I figured they were close enough. They weren't much of a settle, were they? I love them! I wore them to work this week and they were quite uncomfortable.  Hopefully my feet get used to t

Yesterday, I had a lovely day celebrating Mother's Day with my family. In the early hours of the morning, my mum and I went for our usual Sunday morning market visit. I found some vintage and retro treasures, which I'm happy about. I found a vintage suede vest, Italian-made brown clogs, snakeskin-print boots and a maxi dress (all for under $30)! Not only do I love markets because I can find vintage treasures there, but it's also pretty thrifty too. My sister made a ginger and walnut cake which we ate for breakfast. It was delicious! Then, my family and Dedo (which means grandpa in Macedonian) went to visit my Baba (grandma) at the cemetery. I miss my Baba so much, and it was nice to bring her some sunflowers and sit under the sun.  My mum wanted to go out for a day trip for Mother's Day, so off we went to Castlemaine, a really sweet country town. I feel really at peace in country towns and hope to buy a house in the
