Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind

 Once in a while, my mum and I visit a gorgeous and magical place called the Werribee Rose Garden. It's filled with a variety of roses in every colour and scent imaginable.

It's the perfect place to wander around, snap photos, stop and actually smell the roses or have a picnic.  In fact, we have done all of these things in the past, which you may remember reading about here or here. 


In the former post I have fond memories of a picnic on Australia day back in 2020 with my family friends. I remember my aunty Carmel who's in red in the above photos, who has now passed, admiring and smelling almost every rose, saying "Here Jessica, smell this rose....mmm this rose smells nice... did you smell this rose?" only to conclude that "Jessica, these roses are all beautiful but your mum really has the best rose garden, doesn't she?", which made me laugh. She is really missed by her friends and family.


In 2021, I wore this cute fringy skirt to visit the rose gardens. I quite miss that brown skirt, but sold it a while ago after it no longer fit me.


It was nice to revisit this rose garden on a sunny day and make some new memories. I wore my vintage, mustard trench coat over my new favourite type of dress for winter - a turtleneck sweater dress. They're warm and comfortable and go well with all my long coats. I also wore my suede boots and vintage tooled bag.




My mum and I admired all of the roses. She pondered upon which type of roses to plant in her garden next. 


I loved all the pink and red roses, and would love to plant this rose in a garden of my own one day. I love how there are so many roses on one stalk.

    Lovely photos, Jess! I'm loving your mustard leather coat! I'm not sure what my favourite flower is, probably geraniums planted in old olive oil cans and in a multitude of colours! xxx

    What a magnificent garden. The scent must have been truly magical! I love it that your Mum is wearing a matching dress :-) and I'm totally in love with your mustard leather coat! My favourite flowers are Aquilegias but I might reply differently if you asked me again next month :-) xxx

A day by the beach, what could be better? One sunny day on my work holidays, my mum and I visited Geelong beach. First we popped into the Vintage Mills Market. Looks at these vintage treasures... Next we strolled by the beach.  Passing the  carousal , we couldn't resist having some childlike fun. The Carousel's website says: " The Armitage-Herschell portable steam driven, hand-carved wooden carousel was constructed circa 1892 and is one of only 200 in operation around the world.   Featuring 36 Dare horses and 2 chariots, it was purchased by the Steampacket Place Development Board in 1996 and painstakingly restored." The view from the carosaul centre is beautiful. For lunch, we ate at a lovely restaurant by the beach called Fisherman's Pier. We love returning to enjoy the seafood linguini - delicious!  The four beach ladies waved us goodbye as we made our way back to our car. Goodbye beach, it was nice seeing you! Promised you a miracle

 Where do you buy your clothing from? Opshops? Online shops? Retail stores? For a while, I hadn't been buying much clothing as my wardrobe is absolutely full! From time to time, I sell pieces from my wardrobe on eBay to slowly thin out my collection. Although recently I fell into an eBay rabbit hole and have purchased quite a few nice dresses.  I bought this  Tree Of Life  dress on eBay after admiring the exact same one my mum has. I tried on her dress, so knew which size to buy. It popped up immediately when I looked it up online, and for less than $30 including postage, it was mine ! Leopard is always fabulous, I think. I enjoyed wearing it for a get-together with family friends at my uncle Arthur's house a little while ago. This cotton, brown and cream kaftan was also from Tree of Life. Roll up to the mystery tour...

Hello and welcome to my market stall!  A little while ago, I  had a market stall, the size of a little car park. My mum and I woke up very early, made the drive to stall 248 and unloaded all my items.    I love secondhand shopping but I have run out of storage space! So from time to time, I rent a market stall space and sell things that I'm willing to let go. I sold vintage coats, clothes, shoes, boots, bags, vinyl records, books and costume jewellery! We were so busy but my mum managed to take all of these pictures in this post. Thanks mum for helping me! I love selling things and I enjoyed chatting to ladies who bought a bunch of my clothes and boots to resell in their own stalls. I love this little flower stall. How pretty are the daffodils!
