Tilt my hat at the sun and the shadows they burn dark

When I had a look at these outfit photos I took a little while ago, I immediately thought of the INXS lyrics in this blog post's title. I'm a big INXS fan. I remember first catching glimpses of the INXS T.V mini series in December 2013 and the song ' Never Tear Us Apart '  caught my attention. I've always loved reading music biographies, so when I discovered the official autobiography of INXS in a local library, I gladly borrowed it and loved reading it. Source Since then, my love for the band's music has remained. I've collected most of their records. Take a look at my vinyl collection:  I have: INXS Underneath the Colours Shabooh Shoobah The Swing Listen Like Thieves Kick X Full Moon, Dirty Hearts (not pictured, I have it on CD) Live Baby Live (live album) Max Q (a collaboration between Michael Hutchence and Ollie Olsen) I've never been able to find records for W elcome to Wherever

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

After such a busy weekend last week , I was glad to do a whole lotta nothing this weekend.  Well, I did do a few things... I spent Saturday planning and doing other things for work. On Friday, the school I work at celebrated Book Week. I dressed up as a ladybug because my class is learning about mini-beasts. It was so much fun getting dressed up and wearing a velvet cape for the day. I can only imagine how much more excited the children were about wearing their costumes! I spent the rest of the weekend reading and watching T.V. I'm hooked on watching Sons of Anarchy. There's so much shocking drama in every episode. Each time I think the main character Jax (below) is going to finally leave the club, he's somehow pulled back into it. Source I also found some treasures at the market: A vintage, dagger collared shirt (the seller had created it from a dress), a shift dress with a heavy beaded collar and a horn-shaped necklace. Hello! How was your weekend? On Friday night, I had not one, but two birthday parties to go to - my twin cousins' 21st and a family friend's 1 8th! It was all too much for an introvert like me. Nevertheless, it was nice to see some relatives, family friends and have a fun time dancing. On Saturday, we went to visit the twins and their family for a barbeque, it's nice to catch up once in a while as we don't see each other too often. It was too rainy to go the market on  Sunday , and we were too tired from all the socialising! It was good to get a sleep in. In the afternoon, when picking my sister up from a theatre rehearsal, my mum and I popped into Savers, an op-shop. I was beyond excited to find this DVD! My family and I absolutely love this 2004 film. It's about these five guys who have the best night of their lives at an AC/DC concert. After a near-death experience, they  promise each other that when any one of them dies, they are t

Hello! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good.  On Saturday, I decided to braid my hair!  I always have my hair in a ponytail, so it was nice to try something different. The combination of the braids and my huge coin necklace made me feel rather Cleopatra-esque. I love the 1963 film Cleopatra , if only for the fashion and gorgeous snake jewellery.  Source Source I wore this outfit to visit a new local cannoli bar that my sister had discovered.  My mum and I were in our element - we love all things Italian and homemade. I had the nutella canolli and can't wait to go back and try a different flavour, perhaps the chocolate or the classic flavour (it had cedro in it, which is sugared pieces of the white part of lemon skins). Source Source On Sunday, we went to the football and the Bulldogs won what I thought was going to be a losing game. Go Dogs! In the morning, my mum and I went to the  market and I fou

On Sunday, my mum and I were invited to go to a high tea, so off we went! I'd never been to one before but when my uncle's girlfriend organised it, we agreed to go. My mum liked the idea of a high tea so much that she decided to make her very own at home on Saturday. She made these crepes which she called crepe suzette and even made the sauce using oranges from our fruit tree. We were so busy chatting away and having a nice time, I forgot to take a single photo - of us or the food! These outfit pictures were taken when we got home.   Here are the treasures I found at the morning market:  Coin necklace, tooled bag, Elvis record, snakeskin boots (!!!), floral vintage dress, orange vintage skirt. All these goodies for less than $35! I really like the coin necklace, it's nice and big with lots of dangling coins. I'm adding the tan 1970s tooled bag to my collection, now I've got three. Although I am running out of space on my bag she

What a week it's been!  I wanted to publish this post earlier this week, but the time just flies by.  Last Friday, a family member was rushed to the emergency section of a hospital. It was a bit eerie being in a hospital again, the last time I was in one I sadly witnessed my grandma passing away. Luckily I haven't needed to visit hospitals too many times in my life and each time I'm reminded of how wonderful and helpful the nurses are.  The Glass Castle Things were all right by Saturday. I got to watch The Glass Castle , which my sister insisted would be worth watching and it certainly was! It reaffirmed in my mind that most people have some sort of traumatising experiences growing up but the ending of the movie was touching. Have you watched it? Source On Sunday, some family came over and watched the Western Bulldogs play on T.V. Earlier in the morning, my Mum and I had been to the market, and I found quite a few treasures.

Let me roll it to you

Hello again! I recently posted a blogger tag post and today's tag post is on fashion. What is your favourite style to wear? Vintage styles from the late 1960s and early 1970s.  I like minis, maxis and midis- I'll happily wear them all. Who is your fashion role model? Anita Pallenberg and Keith Richards. In fact, I like a lot of the glam rock outfits that musicians wore in the sixites and seventies, whether they were male or female. I like the colours, velvet, suede, big sleeves, leopard print, boots, belts, hats, fluffy jackets, patterned dresses, satin shirts. I could go on and on - I love it all. Source Source What do you always have on? It's Winter at the moment, so I'm always wearing boots and scarves. What are your favourite sunglasses? My vintage ones- I think I only paid a few dollars for them. What are your favourite shoes? Definitely boots.  I feel rather lost in Summer, almost
