Hold me close to your heart, however distant, don't keep us apart

 

On Good Friday, my family and I drove to Apollo Bay for a three day holiday. It took about 2.5 hours to get there and lots of windy roads which left me car sick. 




When we arrived we took in the beach views and browsed the strip of shops. Amazingly, I found a sterling silver Tiffany and Co double heart pendant and necklace at an opshop and I'm so excited to sell it on my eBay store. 

We had some Thai food for lunch. I had a chicken broth soup, it was okay but not amazing.

Then we strolled on the beautiful beach and took in the scenery. In the afternoon I read Liza Minelli's autobiography that I borrowed from the library and then had a nap. 

For dinner, we ate at Apollo Bay Seafood Cafe. My sister and I shared a plate of mussels and a chicken souvlaki. It was nice. Before going to bed, I made a mental note to return and try the lobster roll. 


Walking back to the seaside apartment, we marvelled at the beautiful full moon.

 Anyone fancy tagging along to lunch and a show? A little while ago, my sister, mum and I went into the city to watch the Shirley Valentine theatre show. Shirley Valentine is a classic movie from 1989 about a 42 year old woman who goes on a trip with her friend to Greece to escape her monotonous lifestyle and she discovers new adventure and independence. It is a funny and moving film that my mum, sister and I have watched many times over the years. Hence we were curious what the theatre show would be like. At the Athenaeum Theatre, Natalie Bassingthwaighte did an amazing job in the one woman show. For the show, my mum and I accidentally ended up both wearing floral dresses, which funnily enough perfectly matched the theme of the show. I also wore my giant butterfly clip in my hair. Frida Kahlo: In Her Own Image

A little while ago, my mum and I travelled to the Bendigo Art Gallery to visit the most wonderful exhibition 'Frida Kahlo: In Her Own Image'. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist known for her deeply personal and surrealist works that explored themes of identity, pain, and Mexican culture.  Born in 1907, Kahlo's life was marked by both physical and emotional hardship. At the age of 18, she was severely injured in a bus accident, leaving her with lifelong health issues and leading to numerous surgeries and hospitalisations.  During her recovery, Kahlo began painting, often creating self-portraits that conveyed her intense physical and emotional pain. Her work blends elements of Mexican folk art with surrealism, and her vibrant use of colour and symbolism often highlights her heritage.  Kahlo's art delves into themes of personal suffering, love, and loss, reflecting her tumultuous relationship with fellow artist Diego Rivera. How could I ever refuse, I feel like I win when I lose

  Once I find a restaurant I love, I enjoy returning to it from time to time. La Tortelleria in Kensington, Melbourne is one of my favourite little spots to revisit, which you may remember from this post. On this sunny day, I wore my leopard dress (Tree of Life, via eBay), orange, leather sandals (Diana Ferrari) and beaded bag (secondhand market find).  I absolutely love the beef tacos with a consommé sauce. The sauce is what really makes it so memorable. Of course, I can't leave without having the Mexican flan. This is a cake I dream about! Are you a foodie like me?
