Something in my heart keeps saying my someplace is here

A sunny day at the beach with my sister and mum. A souvlaki for lunch and mint icecream for dessert. A ladybug landed on me, a sure sign of good luck. What more could I ask for?


I happily strolled along the beach in my new-to-me Tree Of Life dress that I bought on eBay at the beginning of 2025. Completely in my element, I admired the turquoise water and sky. 

On the way home, we stopped into a Vinnies opshop. I found a purple velvet kaftan, a yellow floral parasol and my sister spotted an I Dream of Jeannie book for me, all for a grand total of $14. I was happy with that.

    What a beautifully illustrated day, Jess! Jon loves a souvlaki when we're in Greece but i think he'd be hard pressed to eat an ice-cream afterwards, you kids are hardcore!!! Love that photo of you and your mum on the bench and the sound of all the goodies you found in the charity shop! You really suit a halterneck!
    Favourite part of today? My mile swim, the hug from a lady who loved my style, being given a present from another of the swimmers, breakfast in the pub, finding a bargain in the charity shop or the Vinted parcel I picked up earlier, cuddles from the cat or a day of no rain? It's all been good! xxx

 Anyone fancy tagging along to lunch and a show? A little while ago, my sister, mum and I went into the city to watch the Shirley Valentine theatre show. Shirley Valentine is a classic movie from 1989 about a 42 year old woman who goes on a trip with her friend to Greece to escape her monotonous lifestyle and she discovers new adventure and independence. It is a funny and moving film that my mum, sister and I have watched many times over the years. Hence we were curious what the theatre show would be like. At the Athenaeum Theatre, Natalie Bassingthwaighte did an amazing job in the one woman show. For the show, my mum and I accidentally ended up both wearing floral dresses, which funnily enough perfectly matched the theme of the show. I also wore my giant butterfly clip in my hair. Run and tell all of the angels, this could take all night

Earlier in the year, my family and I visited a strawberry farm in Bacchus Marsh. My sister and I love visiting fruit farms and being able to pick our own fruit! The strawberries were much sweeter and tastier than the bland ones usually found in supermarkets. I was delighted to buy some apples too. They had no wax on which is basically unheard of these days. Next we visited a beautiful, old church. I love how the arches are reminiscent of Noah's Ark. Even the door is purposely designed and ornate. For who knows when we'll meet again this way

The end of our Eden holiday concluded with some time at the beach and a yummy BBQ - vegetables, sausages, onions and salmon.  It's always hard to say goodbye to the beautiful ocean, so I savored the last moments looking out at the water and thinking of all the things I'm grateful for. For the long drive home back to Melbourne, I wore my comfortable Mexican, embroidered dress. A few years ago, I found quite a few Mexican dresses, but haven't come across one in a very long time. I'd love one in red, wouldn't that look fantastic? On the drive, I visited this church that was hosting an art fair and admired this green home! Since returning home, I've done a lot of cooking. Here is a plate of my homemade sausage rolls and long green beans with nuts. I've also gone for some nice walks, sometimes picking flowers along the way. What have you been up to lately?
