It's a nice day for a white wedding



 I've got to be honest, I've never enjoyed weddings. I don't like the small talk and rarely enjoy the food because growing up I had to attend lots of weddings with my family for relatives that I didn't even know the name of! But recently I've been to some weddings of people I love and care about, one being my family friend Sharna.

A few weeks ago we celebrated her special day, starting off with delicious food and Serbian music and dancing at her home whilst she got her hair and makeup done. I've since discovered a new favourite antipasti, marinated octopus! Have you tried it? It's so delicious!

We brought her some flowers...

and I couldn't resist snapping some of the other pretty flowers at the florist too.

Then we went to an Anglican church for the ceremony which was conducted by a female priest! She was so sweet and said some lovely words, she shook hands with everyone at the end, I thought it was wonderful!

The reception in the evening was at South Wharf, by the water and was prettily decorated in twinkly lights and big beautiful red and pink flower centrepieces. 

Sometimes I'm shy at weddings, but at this one I had so much fun dancing with my sister and mum! I got sore feet, ditched my shoes (which is something I never do!) and continued dancing anyway. 

My mum has been friends with Sharna's mum Lil for over 30 years and it was so cute to see them celebrate this milestone for Sharna together. At the end of the night, Lil gave my mum a flower centrepiece to take home. Isn't it gorgeous?

Sharna and Johnny, we had an amazing night celebrating you! We wish you the very best for your future. Love you X

    I'm not exactly a fan of weddings either, which is why Jos and I kept it simple!
    Still, exceptions can always be made for a dear friend! What a dream of a dress the bride is wearing, and is that your sister on the left in the first photo? xxx

  A little while ago, my mum, sister and I had lunch at one of our favourite places in the city, Conservatory. It's an all you can eat restaurant with a wide variety of food. Mostly I dream of the seafood and I was SO excited to go. I love the lighted ceiling and marble staircase that greets you on the way in. I wore my new-to-me cream midi dress with cute puffy sleeves that I recently bought at a market for $7. I wasn't sure if the colour would suit me, but I like how it looks with the coral necklace. Beach baby, beach baby, give me your hand

A day by the beach, what could be better? One sunny day on my work holidays, my mum and I visited Geelong beach. First we popped into the Vintage Mills Market. Looks at these vintage treasures... Next we strolled by the beach.  Passing the  carousal , we couldn't resist having some childlike fun. The Carousel's website says: " The Armitage-Herschell portable steam driven, hand-carved wooden carousel was constructed circa 1892 and is one of only 200 in operation around the world.   Featuring 36 Dare horses and 2 chariots, it was purchased by the Steampacket Place Development Board in 1996 and painstakingly restored." The view from the carosaul centre is beautiful. For lunch, we ate at a lovely restaurant by the beach called Fisherman's Pier. We love returning to enjoy the seafood linguini - delicious!  The four beach ladies waved us goodbye as we made our way back to our car. Goodbye beach, it was nice seeing you! I go leaps and bounds

A few weeks ago, my mum, dad and I spent the day in Geelong, catching up with some family and friends. Julie, Andy and their children were down from Queensland for the weekend to watch their son Joel play football, so it was a perfect chance to catch up.  It was nice watching the game, chatting and laughing non-stop. This bunch are always cracking jokes and I delighted in our giggles. Being outside all day, I rugged up in my new fluffy coat, my Christmas present from mum this year. I squeezed in a sneaky wear of it before I wrapped it up in Christmas paper.  My mum has a maroon Afghan coat and a tan one, which I sometimes borrow. You may recall them from my blog posts here and here . Now I have one of my own, thank you mum! I practically pounced on it, when I saw it on sale. I've been secondhand shopping for so long, I forgot that retail stores have end of season sales! The coat kept me toasty all day, even into the night as we headed to a pub hotel for a final gathering and chat.
