Sun is shining, the weather is sweet

Ahh sunny days, aren't they wonderful? A little while ago, my mum and I visited one of our favourite places, Geelong beach. We loved having a ride on the ferris wheel and looking out at the water. Amazingly, I'm not afraid of heights. Are you? I love the lighting in these photos and coincidentally my yellow gingham dress perfectly matches the ferris wheel. My dress, vintage basket bag and sunglasses were all bargain finds from secondhand markets. I had my Baba on my mind and was missing her so I wore her pearl necklace that day along with a shell necklace my uncle gave my sister, mum and I from his travels to Phuket. Doesn't my mum look beautiful in blue? Next, mum and I had to stop at the merry-go-round, and for $5 we had the time of our lives, giggling as we went around and around! We ended our day out with lunch in a restaurant by the water. We can never go past seafood with pasta and this didn't disappoint.  The waitress working there saw us taking photos of our foo...

Did we unravel a long time ago?

Our final day in Phillip Island started with breakfast at a cafe by the beach. I had avocado and chutney on toast. I really love breakfast food but was disappointed by the breakfast meals we bought on holiday because they were all a bit average.     The sunshine and sight of blue ocean was a nice distraction and I loved spotting some swans and pelicans in the water.            On the drive home, we stopped at another cafe for some tea and scones. I loved the small waterfall and luscious, green ferns. We wandered around the nearby bush, spotting a cockatoo kept in a cage. How sad to be a bird stuck in a cage. A sign said that the particular bird was 84 years old and had been stolen and somehow recovered in Sydney, although I suspect someone may have felt sorry for this trapped bird and simply let it free.           By the time we drove home, I'd finally finished reading Daisy Jones and The Six. I enjoyed the book an...

Wind in my hair and the sand at my feet

Day 2 of my Phillip Island holiday with my family began with eating breakfast at a cafe. I had avocado and eggs on toast, but it was bland and a bit average. I love eating out but hate when the food disappoints me. As soon as I got home, I was determined to make nice breakfasts and thought to myself, sometimes what you make at home is much nicer than what you can buy at cafes.     My breakfasts Next, my family and I drove around, stopping at the Nobbies to stroll along the boardwalk. It was so windy, I felt like a dog with its head out the car window. I was delighted to spot a wallaby. My non-Aussie readers might get a kick out of these cute animals, they're similar to kangaroos.      It had such beautiful, dark brown, shiny fur and was happily nibbling away at the green plants. I have no idea what this large bird is called, I've never seen one before.       Sparkling blue water and beautiful views at every turn.       ...

We could make a good thing bad

A little while ago, my mum and I went to Yarra Glen, a town full of wineries. We arrivered there early and didn't want to eat lunch straight away so we stopped off at our favourite chocolate factory for a hot chocolate and mum wanted some scones.     I enjoyed looking at the chocolate factory workers who made the chocolate onsite. I took a photo of raspberry lollies being covered in chocolate. My mum had previously visited the winery we went to that day and had absolutely loved the gnocchi but we were disappointed by the food this time around. Isn't that annoying when you eat out and it's amazing but them when you revisit, it's not? Nevertheless the gnocchi made for a nice photo. The vineyard views were beautiful as well!      Overall it was a beautiful day out and I can't wait for the Easter holidays where I can spend more time with my loved ones and have some more days out. I'd love to visit the chocolate factory again. That's it for me ...
