Working from seven to eleven

It's a busy time of year for me at the moment, as it is for many teachers.
It's report writing time and I'm writing my first reports!

I wanted to be really organised, so I've started working on them gradually over numerous weekends and this past weekend was the last one before we hand them in. I'm feeling happy that I've completed them and saved myself the stress of doing them all at once.

But enough about that, I know I'm not the only one tired from work and that there's so many hard working people out there.

When I'm at home, I tend to stay in my pyjamas, but on Saturday, I popped out to the supermarket to get a few things.

This is what I wore:

Denim dress and turtleneck: retail.
Vintage snakeskin belt and pepper beads: market finds.
Boots: Turkish shop.

I bought these Turkish boots quite a few years ago in a shop in Stratford, Victoria.
My family and I have passed the shop for many years on our drive to our favourite holiday spot, and I'd gazed at the shelves of colourful embroidered boots for years.

One year, I finally bought a pair and they're pretty special to me.
They hold happy memories of long road trips and summer holidays.

The purple part is velveteen, so I try to only wear them when I know it won't be wet or rainy.

I bought these pepper beads for a couple of dollars. They were two separate decorative door hangers, but I connected them together with a needle and thread. In some cultures, including the Italian culture, peppers are symbols for protection, but to be honest with you, I just like the look of the red peppers on necklaces (and they're my absolute favourite vegetable too!)

My sister and I also went for a lovely walk in the afternoon. It was nice to be out in the sun and chat away. We even found a community garden, which is a vacant lot behind several houses. Some people have created their own little vegetable gardens. It's so sweet and beautiful there, there's even some wooden benches to sit on.

I really love going for walks. There's something about being surrounded by nature, the sky and good company that makes me feel instantly happy. And it's just what I needed after a busy week of work.

How was your weekend?

  1. Those Suzani boots are gorgeous, I'm tempted to fly over to Istanbul and get myself a pair after seeing several people wearing them.
Hope you get those reports finished without too much stress. Several of my friends are teachers and hate this time of year! xxx

    1. Thanks Vix! Is that what they're called -Suzani boots? I never knew that. Yes, I'm still slowly getting through the reports, they're very time consuming. Xxx
