Hello, my name is Jessica!
I'm excited (and nervous) about starting this vintage blog.
 I love wearing vintage or vintage-inspired clothing from the 1960s and 1970s. I don't usually post photographs of myself online, but I have been inspired by many bloggers and I'd love to join the vintage online community. 


 I spotted these velvet pants (or are they called palazzo pants?) a few weeks ago. I practically pounced on them! 

Usually I prefer shopping at markets but I found these in a retail store. Still, I wasn't going to dismiss these pants so easily.  I've been looking for velvet pants for quite a few years now and then all of a sudden I found two pairs at once! Isn't that the way is always goes! I bought this emerald pair and a maroon/ruby pair.


 I've been wearing the emerald pair quite a bit, with a turtleneck and boots. I've loved wearing them so much that I almost forgot I had another pair. I'm sure I'll be sharing photos of the maroon pair soon.

I first discovered the beauty of velvet pants through these fab photos from the 1960s from some of my style inspirations.

  A little while ago, my mum, sister and I had lunch at one of our favourite places in the city, Conservatory. It's an all you can eat restaurant with a wide variety of food. Mostly I dream of the seafood and I was SO excited to go. I love the lighted ceiling and marble staircase that greets you on the way in. I wore my new-to-me cream midi dress with cute puffy sleeves that I recently bought at a market for $7. I wasn't sure if the colour would suit me, but I like how it looks with the coral necklace. Ready to eat! The oysters were so delicious and my absolute favourite! My mum took a sneaky photo of my sister and I chatting.  See you next time, Conservatory! Beach baby, beach baby, give me your hand

A day by the beach, what could be better? One sunny day on my work holidays, my mum and I visited Geelong beach. First we popped into the Vintage Mills Market. Looks at these vintage treasures... Next we strolled by the beach.  Passing the  carousal , we couldn't resist having some childlike fun. The Carousel's website says: " The Armitage-Herschell portable steam driven, hand-carved wooden carousel was constructed circa 1892 and is one of only 200 in operation around the world.   Featuring 36 Dare horses and 2 chariots, it was purchased by the Steampacket Place Development Board in 1996 and painstakingly restored." The view from the carosaul centre is beautiful. For lunch, we ate at a lovely restaurant by the beach called Fisherman's Pier. We love returning to enjoy the seafood linguini - delicious!  The four beach ladies waved us goodbye as we made our way back to our car. Goodbye beach, it was nice seeing you! I go leaps and bounds

A few weeks ago, my mum, dad and I spent the day in Geelong, catching up with some family and friends. Julie, Andy and their children were down from Queensland for the weekend to watch their son Joel play football, so it was a perfect chance to catch up.  It was nice watching the game, chatting and laughing non-stop. This bunch are always cracking jokes and I delighted in our giggles. Being outside all day, I rugged up in my new fluffy coat, my Christmas present from mum this year. I squeezed in a sneaky wear of it before I wrapped it up in Christmas paper.  My mum has a maroon Afghan coat and a tan one, which I sometimes borrow. You may recall them from my blog posts here and here . Now I have one of my own, thank you mum! I practically pounced on it, when I saw it on sale. I've been secondhand shopping for so long, I forgot that retail stores have end of season sales! The coat kept me toasty all day, even into the night as we headed to a pub hotel for a final gathering and chat.
