Oh, the sweetest thing

Welcome back to one of my favourite cafes - Old Man Drew. It's has such a beautiful, quirky and retro atmosphere. Plus the food's delicious. In the past,  I had a heart-warming home made pie and a cherry pie . I still dream of those meals! The last time my mum and I went, we just popped in for a slice of cheesecake and hot chocolate. It was creamy, rich and filled me up so much, I didn't feel like eating lunch after that. They should pay me for how much I boast about them!       Around this time, we got Covid and then I could only dream about going to nice places and eating out. I spent the next very hot week laying in a hammock, reading and generally feeling a bit miserable.        I felt exhausted for weeks, but I'm much better now, 2 months on. I'll be getting my 4th booster shot in a few months. How about you?   Anyway, enough covid talk. Look at the beautiful sights that can be seen around every corner of Old Man Drew. ...

Lazing on a sunny afternoon

Hello! How are you? Is it sunny where you are? We've just started Autumn here in Melbourne, but today I'm sharing some sunny pictures from February, taken around Valentine's Day. I had a lovely Valentine's Day with Pat and even got into the spirit by making some heart-shaped zucchini fritters. These photos were taken at Footscray Park, where there were lovely plants and flowers to be found around every corner. Footscray doesn't have the best reputation though, so you'll see stolen park benches and tables too!                  On this particularly windy day, my family and I had a wander around the grounds, relaxed on a picnic blanket and then when we got hungry, we headed to a Mexican restaurant that my sister wanted to try.   Source It's always fun discovering a new place to eat. Although the portions were small, the tortillas were delicious! I loved that mine was covered in coriander. Next time I go there, I'd love to try...

It's a sunny day

Last week, my mum, dad and I had a sunny day out to a sunflower farm in Dunnstown. We visited a sunflower farm two years ago and absolutely loved it, so mum and I were keen to return.     It was the first week of the fields being open to the public, so some of  sunflowers weren't fully grown yet, but they were still a beautiful sight.     We wondered around, taking photos, enjoying a sausage sizzle for lunch, cutting sunflowers and I marveled at the many ladybugs, happy when they landed on me because they're supposedly good luck.     The sight of bright sunflowers and cute red ladybugs sparked an idea for my next embroidery project, which I'll probably start in the winter. We are approaching Autumn here in Melbourne, with only 2 days of summer. I wonder what we'll get up to then... I have some plans. I always think it's a good thing to have something to look forward to especially in these strange times. It's horrifying to see what's happening...
